Well, well, well, the inaugural thread for the "Other TTRPG" forums. I feel so honored! I am starting up my first EotE campaign very soon. We are taking it slow and running multiple session 0 meetings for character backgrounds and creation. However, I am anticipating major questions and/or issues. Both the players and I are new to the system. I'm hoping to tap the brilliant minds of the Blockheads for help here, just as I have for my D&D campaign. So, on that note, please feel free to post any comments, suggestions, adventure hook ideas, NPCs, community/homebrew creations, resources etc. for any of the Fantasy Flight Star Wars games; Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, or Force and Destiny. You may, of course, feel free to start your own thread. To me, this could become the "GM Resources" thread for FFSW games. Looking forward to future collaborations here! I'm going to post any resources I find here as edits, similar to the DM Resources thread.

Other TTPRGs....OTHER TTPRGs!!!!!!!!!!!! STAR WARS SHOULD HAVE ITS OWN FREAKING SECTION. Why I outta. Real Talk xD, if this is going to end up the Star Wars GM Resources I might as well copy and past this from the other thread Triumph & Despair: A site dedicated to putting out stuff for EotE and expansions. I linked specifically the superweapon generator page. Never Tell Me The Odds Podcast: There is a section of their blog that has game supplements and there are some pretty helpful stuff there. Starship Repair Rules: Depending on how in depth your players want to get with starship repair and maintenance, here is some alternate rules. Peter Thompsons EotE NPC Generator: The BEST dang NPC gen for EotE I have found. Little light on the species but I just substitute them as needed. Ole' Zekes Scrapyard: If you don't want to get the expansion books but want new pre-made vehicles, I found an old forum post with a bunch of starships and a couple of other vehicles that this some people cooked up. Oh and before you ask, the forum's Star Wars content is pretty dead.

We'll be lucky if we don't get ridden out of the forums on a rail for jumping systems I'm just glad to maintain communications with all the lovely folks here. I dropped by the Fantasy Flight Games forums, but they are a corporate forum, and it feels like it.

I am interested in FF Star Wars (indeed, have been since I have been playing FF board games long before I started DMn). Does someone have all the books? I can't seem to decide which one I like better, then the other. Would you suggest that it is a good idea to begin with the box set? Or is it all right to start from scratch if you have pretty extensive knowledge of Star Wars? Also, and this is just a side thought, do you think most people will be playing this RPG in the Star Wars EU, because the new movies haven't expanded their universe yet?

As far as which book to start with: it depends on what kind of adventure you feel like running. If you want to run a campaign that may star Han Solo and Chewbacca, go with Edge of the Empire. If you want to take full part in the Rebellion, do Age of Rebellion. If you want to run a Jedi centered campaign, go with Force and Destiny. As to the box sets, I actually recommend picking one up just because of the value. A pack of narrative dice costs around $15, while you can get one of the starter sets on Amazon for $20, and the starter sets include dice as well as a premade intro adventure. A good value IMO.

I agree with Friar about the books. As for EU or not, I think most people will be sticking with adventures inside the Galactic Civil War or the Clones Wars. Just because they are so expansive and not really explored much, it leaves a bunch of room to screw around in without bumping into canon. I personally believe that EU events are mostly a hindrance to play unless you are comfortable with bumping around with the canon. Especially since EU events are usually very personal things for the characters of Star Wars. Though there are things like the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and the Empires Warlord Era that would be fun to play around in.

The biggest time area I wanted to build Star Wars stories around is the reign of Jacon Solo, because it was one of the highlights of Star Wars fiction, in my opinion. That the story continued even into Abeloth's timeline, with Jedi children going insane... I'm geeking out way too much I should just get one of these RPG books.

I know I said I don't like interact directly with Star Wars canon, but can you imagine a group of players who, on orders from Jacen or some other high ranking officer, to find/hunt down/keep track of the exiled Skywalkers. Following them to all those crazy force imbuded places, and all the while trying not to get caught by the Skywalkers? That would be fun to run or play.

I could see the same thing happening with Luke and Ben's exile, except being tasked by the government to do that (with EOTE rules). That would be awesome, I would really want to play either games!

Ima be honest. I have no clue what y'all are talking about.
I read the first couple books of the Heir to the Empire books, but that's about it. I'm an obnoxious Star Wars fan. I call myself a rabid fan, but the only Star Wars material that I personally consider "canon" is episodes IV, V, & VI. Specifically, the original theatrical releases.
The nice thing about that as a GM is that I have no problem at all with my players making up whatever expanded canon try want for our campaign.

Now that was stupid. I'm so judging you right now That's actually the one thing I told my players was off limits. They are allowed to reference any bit of Star Wars lore they want. But there will never be midichlorians in any version of Star Wars I have any bit of control over.

If you haven't read any/much of the EU then I think you would really enjoy the Clone Wars TV series. Best of all you only to acknowledge Ep 2 & 3, which I personally found tolerable. Star Wars Rebels is pretty good to, but since it is a 20-30 min show it doesn't leave much time for story to develop naturally and kinda fells rushed at times. Still decent though.

I've seen some of the Clone Wars series. My kids watched them when they came out. It was fairly well done. I haven't seen Rebels yet, but I've heard good things. A quick rules question: I'm cramming through the EotE core book. Trying to get my feet on the ground a bit before we actually start play sessions. I was reading the Force chapter and got a bit confused. That chapter outlines the Force Sensitive Outcast (I think that's what it was called) profession, specializations and talent trees. It also mentions that a character needs at least one Force Point to be able to use the force. My question is two fold: 1) According to the RAW, does one need to "purchase" (with XP) the Outcast profession to be able to take the force power trees? To expand on this, does one need to "purchase" a given profession of any kind before one can take a specialization in that profession? 2) Is it possible to gain a Force Score (or whatever its called) of 1 without taking the Outcast profession? If so, how?

If so, how? Sorry I didn't respond sooner . Once you take the Outcast profession you have the option to spend XP to learn new force abilities and things. There are several force power upgrade trees in the chapter. If you want to use a force power then you need to roll a force die equal to your Force Rating (you automatically gain one for taking the Outcast profession). In most cases you need to roll Light side dots to use your force powers. However if you want to give in to the dark side, you use the Dark side dots as successes if you flip a white destiny point over and take 1 strain damage for every Dark side point you flip over.
