Okay, My group has been leveling for a while and our papers are getting worn out. Making up new ones is a snap (transfering, rewriting, better notes on this one, etc.) the question raised to me is, what do we do with the old ones?
Because after having these sheets for so long some are worried that shredding, burning, or even recycling them would be terrible luck in-game. And yes, we could keep them, but that seems kind of superflous.
So what do you think? Are we being superstitious? What would you do?

Haha, I think you should put it up to the individual player. I know I kept mine sometimes when I really liked the character. It just becomes a ton of paper that is difficult to keep straight, and naturally people won't keep them anymore unless they really really have an attachment to the character or the superstition of destroying the character sheet.

Turn them into a paper mache pirate hat.
Yes, you're being superstitious, but superstition is part of the fun of the game. Dice are the biggest targets of superstition at RPG tables, of course, but if you destroy those character sheets I swear it'll cause a total party wipe.

I love to keep information, and I find those character sheets trigger the memories of the games I played with them. So I keep them in my filing cabinet right next to my bank statements, even if they are just lower level iterations of the character on worn out sheets. My players however are very pragmatic about these things. So much so they sometimes "get rid of" their current sheet . In the end though, as long as it isn't hurting the game, I think you should just give them the sheets and let them do what they want with them.

I recently found all my character sheets for me and my friends in 2E from back in high school, along with all the hand drawn maps, etc. The HP boxes are almost worn through, but they are good after 20 years. The memories it brought back were fantastic, and some have even been brought into my world. Keep them, throw them in a box and forget about them. When you find them down the road, you will thank me.

Thanks all, I'll let them know to hang on to them. For superstition and sentiment.

Of course it's superstitious but if it's not causing harm then there's nothing wrong with that. I still have the character sheets from the first campaign I played in back in 2001 (when 3.0 was new). I just keep them in a folder from ye olde days and they knock around for posterity. Occasionally they come out and others get to laugh at the utter goofiness on them.
