I´ve always liked Zelda.
It´s a beautiful game with amazing art and lore, but I´ve never been able to get into it. I don´t have money to buy a ton of games and I only have a PC and PS3. I´ve seen a playthrough of skyward sword and bits and pieces of the new wind waker. Recently, I was asked to the Winter Formal at my highschool with a box of Zelda themed jewlery, including a Navi in a bottle (thankfully it appears to be sound proof). I know enough from being on the internet to understand the references, but I decided I want to get into it.
So how do you suggest i become a Zelda nerd?

I can't really tell you how to be a nerd, but I can give some suggestions to what to look onto (with only a PS3 and PC it is hard to fin LoZ material). 1. The mangas. Yes, their cheesy, but they could be a fun way to (even) get ideas for DMing. Fun stories. 2. Hyrule Historia. A giant book of the races, places, and people in LoZ, a great resource for inspiration as well. 3. Emulation. Lastly, I would emulate some games onto my PC. Of course, whether or not to do this is constantly being debated, so I would implore research before you do this. Of course, these don't help you "become" a Zelda nerd, but they are fun resources. And finally, because this is the DMB forum, here is an article on running LoZ games, from tribality: www.google.com/m?q=tribality%20legend%20of%20zelda&safe=active

2. Hyrule Historia. A giant book of the races, places, and people in LoZ, a great resource for inspiration as well. Sitting proudly on the top of my bookshelf
But seriously, playing the games I guess? Can also watch the theory videos on youtube from before the official timeline got released, great fun to be had there and a great resource in timelines and affects (effects?)

It sounded to me as if she did not own a Nintendo console, just a PC and PS3. And, though you can emulate, you should really play the older games on the consoles they were released. Because, until you use a N64 controller, you will never know how lucky you are to have these modern controllers. I really wish I bought the Hyrule Historia, that thing looks amazing, I would love running a campaign using that as a reference point. Plus, the only think LoZ I own, now, is the limited edition Skyward Sword with Golden Wii Remote... funny, since I don't own a Wii.

I would suggest the ridiculous Zelda cartoon as well. No matter how you get to it, but I agree with Almarianknight that if you can use the old console would be best, but definitely play Ocarina of Time. It is hailed as not only one of the best Zelda games, but simply one of the best games of all time. Also, here is a great way to learn about the history zelda.wikia.com/wiki/History_of_the_Legend_of_Zelda_series and from there you can just keep digging into the Wikia and learn as much as possible. That's really what being a geek or nerd means to me. A desire to learn and know and experience everything possible about a certain property. Hope all of these suggestions get you started on your way to being an awesome Zelda nerd!

I would suggest the ridiculous Zelda cartoon as well. The cartoons are how I became a fan since my parents didn't like video games.

Well, excuse me... haha, I have always felt that the cartoons were pretty good, outside of Link. They just decided to make Link a complete A-hole for the entire series. Ruins the image of the brave adventures knight you always thought he was. Still they are certainly worth a watch and a trip down memory lane. Especially if you think of Zelda being the main character and Link as an annoying sidekick. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPxY8lpYAUM&app=desktop
