Hell the reset button could just be a series of terrasquely events.
you could base them on the Titans and have Elemental Terrasques.
I like that idea, and I just might change what I have now... maybe I should just post that and see what you guys think
Context wise, there are 8 gods (working on who they are still) and each one created a champion race to fight in the war. I really want to have one apocalyptic creature created for every race, so 8 creatures. The apocalyptic creatures were developed as the ultimate war weapon for each race, so I have tried to flavor them a bit toward each race.
Humans:
The humans used the powerful magics of their god and their own ingenuity to imbue 4 of their best warriors with the most destructive forces. Death, Conquest, Plague, and War. The warriors chosen had their emotions scoured from their bodies in the process of their transformation.
Death rides a pale green horse and wields a scythe and black clouds of life sucking darkness, though the clouds have a limited range. He is dressed in black robes with his hood drawn up, and his skin is drawn so close to his skin he looks like a skeleton. His scythe is soul bound, which allows him to throw it into battle and call it back to his hand. He is the quickest of the horsemen, moving so fast he seems to teleport.
Conquest rides a white horse and wields a longbow. He is dressed in white leather armor with gold highlights, and his head is covered by a leather helmet that has a close fitting faceplate. He is the weakest of the horsemen in power, but he is able to control the emotions of thousands at a time. While not powerful, he is accurate with the longbow. It is said that if he can see you, he can hit you.
Plague rides a black horse wields a book that has the info on every poison and disease in existence. He is a frail man, dressed in a simple gray tunic, with eyes completely white with no pupils. His body physically produces the toxins or diseases he wills, and he is able to spew them from any orifice and his pores. He rarely dismounts his horse, as he much prefers to ride into battle spewing deadly clouds. It is said that whatever he touches immediately starts to rot and decay, including the ground beneath his feat.
War rides a red horse and wields a greatsword. He is completely naked except for a loincloth. His bare skin shimmers red, this red somehow acts like armor for him, making most attacks ineffectual. Attacks that make it through this shimmer are largely ignored by him. He charges straight into battle, where is fervor infects the surrounding beings to fight whatever is near. The angrier he is, the brighter he glows and the more destructive he becomes. It is said he can cut mountains down with a single swing.
Creature to Use: The 4 Horsemen
Dwarves:
The dwarves used combined their metal and steam work with their gods magic to craft a colossal golem named Apoctus. The golem is magically protected, armored, armed, and regenerative. The only problem with the design is it needs to consume matter in order to power its physical form, which in turn gives power to its magical defenses and weapons. Because of that, its main weapons are also its main feeding means. It can shoot beams out of its hands that tears any matter it touches sucks it into its engine. Its mouth also leads directly to this engine, so literally eating powers it as well. The only other weapon it possess aside from its size and strength are 2 destructive beams that can be fired from its eyes.
Creature to use: Beefed Up ADMANTIUM GOLEM
Elves:
The Elves took the strongest, most resilient, and most adaptive creatures they could get their hands on and started experimenting in the creation of the perfect battle beast. When they made their discovery, their god took the creature and sped up its evolution an insane amount. After millions of years of magically induced evolution, the Tarrasque was born.
Creature to Use: Tarrasque
Gnomes:
Some sort of Micro machine swarm. Working on it.
Halflings:
The Mantis God is a Pathfinder creature created by the gods as a bloody assassin for immortals. I thought it was perfect but still working on it.
Orcs:
Nooooooo clue
Tieflings:
(Lorewise, Asmodeus created the demons as his first race but the other gods banned them for being op. Tieflings were the workaround i.e they were given control over the demons which limited said demons powers)
The Tieflings were given great control over the demonic armies that Asmodeus created. However that wasn't enough to secure victory, so the Tieflings studied the ability greater demons had with spawning lesser demons. Using this knowledge they started having greater demons come together to spawn stronger demons they couldn't do alone. Asmodeus supplied their efforts with the spawning circle he had used to create the first and most powerful demon lord. With that, the Tieflings called forth every demon that could spawn another and combined their powers with the spawning circle, and from it came Cthulhu.
Creature to Use: Cthulhu
Dragonborn:
The dragonborn had the discovered early on their colors indicated the strongest of them. They also discovered that if the living gave themselves to the Spawning Portal, then their strengths would be recycled and add to the next spawn. Using this method, they threw back thousands of weak and unworthy dragonborn. As the other races worked on a more powerful weapon, the dragonborn worked on a more powerful warrior. Hundreds of thousands of well trained and strong warriors marched into the Spawning Portal, sacrificing their lives for the perfect warrior. Then he came from the portal, the first golden dragonborn. He excelled at everything and was the perfect warrior. Bahamut then used his magic to bring him from dragonborn to Dragon. Already thinking himself better then everyone else, Verath the Dragon declared himself a god, and that he would remake the world in his image.
Creature to Use: GOLD DRAGON GREAT WYRM or SOVEREIGN DRAGON
