Dragonlance will always be my first love! I read all 8 of the main books at least once every couple years. I'm due pretty soon actually.

DMMP,
It's very...structured and orderly is the best way I can put it. 3 gods for divine. One for Good/Neutral/Evil. Same goes for the 3 gods for arcane magic. It's definitely not like Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk, where there's dozens of gods. There are other gods in Dragonlance, but they aren't center-stage at all.
Cliff Notes version is the gods have left Krynn long ago. Divine magic hasn't existed in a long time. It's the stuff of fairy tales, but someone has found something that could mean the gods' return. A group of companions that separated and went out searching for the truth, have come back together to compare all of what they've found.
Tanis - Half-Elf Fighter. Flint - Dwarven Fighter Sturm - Human Knight Tasslehoff - Kender "Borrower" (LOL) Caramon - Human Fighter Raistlin - Human Wizard Riverwind - Human Barbarian Goldmoon - Human
If you decide to give them a shot, here's the reading order.
Chronicles Trilogy Dragons of Autumn Twilight Dragons of Winter Night Dragons of Spring Dawning
Legends Trilogy Time of the Twins War of the Twins Test of the Twins
The Second Generation Dragons of Summer Flame

Here are a few D&D-ish, but not D&D books that I loved as a kid:
* The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever (including the Second Chronicles), by Stephen R. Donaldson * The Chronicles of Prydain, by Lloyd Alexander (The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle of Llyr, Taran Wanderer, The High King) * Various Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories... * The Once and Future King
And of course, The Hobbit and LOTR...

I think I was around 10 years old at the time.

I am assuming these books are good?? *Says Sarcastically* Honestly, their pretty polarizing. People either love them or hate them. I've seen very little middle ground.
