I had no idea that this episode went away and listened to it with great pleasure as Rich Howard was let completely off the hook. Unstoppable force of knowledge for underwater campaigns. I can't wait to see what he comes up with for his own setting, as I loved reading through the Cerulean Seas campaign setting, and it had a ton of amazing ideas. I really like their 3D combat ideas. I genuinely don't know how someone could listen to the episodes with Rich and his passion for aquatic settings and not want to run one themselves, or at least add in some aquatic adventuring to your campaign.

I loved this episode. But, then again, I start nerding out whenever I hear Howard start talking about aquatic campaigns. And Mitch, Marvel is better but... New 52 Aquaman is way better then Namor...

Still not a fan of aquatic settings, but that doesn't mean the episode lacked in great ideas. My favorite one only got lip service at the end (175:30), but it's something I would soooo love to do to my players... if I had the heart. That was the plague ship, where the PCs bring back a disease that ends up wiping out an entire city.

I may just quote this entire thing and put it at the top of my resume. Thank you. I'm glad it was "let off the hook" and not "man, he's super tired from the new baby and won't let Chris talk". Lol. J.M. Perkins (Survivalist Horror ep) and I had an incredible brainstorming session walking our kids the other day. Talked about the major historical events/apocalypses that shaped this campaign world. It will definitely be different than CS, which I want. We were able to record about 30 minutes of it; may release that at some point, maybe as a Kickstarter stretch goal.

They are simply put together but my brain went crazy for story ideas.

Man... I don't know why, but that show conjured images of scenes from "I Am Legend" with Will Smith where those infected humanoids were standing all together in that dark building hiding from the sun... they were all breathing quickly and resting or waiting or something. Then the boss infecto-guy begins to make his moves. Awesome!! I know it's not water related, but it's just evidence how the show inspired me. I guess it was the part of the show's discussion talking about how some sea creatures rest one lobe of their brains at a time! Oh NO... now I want to start working up a Spelljammer campaign... AGHGHGHG!! Help?
Hawk... rhymes with block... Huzzah!

I also started writing a Maztica type adventure where the party starts as prisoners in the hold of a ship... this episode will help me widen the possibilities from ship to shore to undersea to underdark... nice. THANKS!

THANKS! Make sure to check out the Pirates episode as well (and ep 19, too). I'm totally stealing an idea the guys offered up about surface pirate attack being coordinated with an underwater sabotage by sahuagin, blowing a hole in the hull. You can have air-breathing party members fighting pirates, and your aquatic members down below or in the water. Sounds awesome. And Paizo has a great Flip-Map of a ship with 4 levels all side-by-side, perfect for an encounter like that.

And Mitch, Marvel is better but... New 52 Aquaman is way better then Namor... He really is. I think we all know who the REAL rulers of the sea are... Just finished listening to this shiny episode. I admit I hadn't really considered having an aquatic component to any of my campaigns so far (or at least not enough to actually implement any). Now I'm having notions... Good chance my players should start looking for their snorkels >_>

Good chance my players should start looking for their snorkels >_> Can't argue with that logic. Make sure to listen to Ep 19 as well; it has a ton of information on encounter locations and story seeds. And if you're PCs are 10th level or lower, check out the aquatic creatures by CR and encounter seeds articles over on Tribality. They were inspired by 5th, but are system agnostic (except the new creatures I introduce, which are all 5th ed rules). tribality.com/category/columns/from-the-depths/

Can't argue with some ETC greatness. Seen them several times at Blizzcon, and will hopefully see them again this year! I think that umbralwalker's goal at all times is to give people the notions you are now having, haha. Now Rich has given us all so much to read!

Anyone else find it ironic that the worst case of audio echoing on the Pod, came in this episode? Especially when Mitch came back and when they were talking Echolocation? LOL!
Great 'cast though once again!

Great 'cast though once again! Yeah, a lot of that was my fault. I'm really sorry. I bought a new mic at the recommendation of Ty Mabrey from BangZoomPow and the IndieApocalypse Podcast and it was clearly more sensitive than I thought. I didn't realize it was picking up Chris' voice that was coming out of the earbud that didn't happen to be in my ear. I didn't hear it during the test run because, obviously, it was in my ear at the time. So send people at me for that one. Lol.
