I like that it's a magic-light world. Every now and then something happens to remind you that it exists, but by and large, it's a gritty-realism based series.

Yeah I like that as well. There have only been two parts where there has been magic, or something like magic evident so far. Out of 17 episodes so far, that is pretty good.

I recently began my third re-read of the entire Song of Ice and Fire series of books. Still on book one. I am doing the audio books this go-round, and I have very little time in my life to sit down and have a long conversation with a book. They are really, really well done. Roy Dotrice narrates the entire series (I believe he won an award for having the longest narration for doing all these) and his voice is downright hypnotic.
Also, is there any interest in starting a spoiler heavy GoT thread? I've got some theories and thoughts I'd love to share, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone.

If you change your text/font color to WHITE (see below), people will have to highlight it to read it. I'd love to talk spoilers and theories. Can't wait to see Chris' reaction to S3.

Oh neat! Using the [ SPOILER ] tag (remove the spaces) hides the text anyways! No need for the text color change.

Sweet, it worked! Ok, first prediction/theories, feel free to tell me how wrong I am, I'll reserve my mocking laughter for the end of the series. Sorry for any misspelled names. Prediction: Tyrion marries Daernys, becomes king in next book. Theory: Jon Snow is not actually Ned's bastard, he is the love child of Rhaegar Targaryean and Lyanna Stark.

Yeah, that theory on Jon's parentage is known as "R+L=J"...and just so happens to be something I agree with. LOL

This is an AMAZING interactive map of Westeros. If you checkmark a character's name, then move the slider on top, it'll show you where they are on the map at that particular point in the book. Needless to say, spoilers abound on character deaths, locations of said deaths, etc. Be cautious. quartermaester.info/

Edited for spoiler spoiling I know now that it is an established theory. I'd just like to go on record that I thought of it independently, then read that it was a theory online.

Not that I care as spoilers aren't a big deal to me, but a hilarious fact I noticed in my forum app was that if the spoiler is the first thing in a post it still previews whatever is in said spoiler, haha. Just thought I would mention it as I know some people are very anti-spoilers.

I can't wait for the new season in just a few weeks! The trailers look uber-rad. I think I'll be ok with some of the story/character liberties they'll be taking.

I have the 4th season to get caught up on but I have loved every minute. I have refrained from watching the latest trailers on purpose because I don't want to see who is still alive and who isn't. I am stoked though.

Alright so I'm going to star with that I have not read each post but am going to bring up that for the seasons past 5 they will be working closely GRRM but the show and books will soon reverse roles as far as spoilers go. That being said GRRM has written one episode each season, however season 5 he will not be doing so in order to focus on finishing book 6.
biggest question of the story is "who is Jon snows mother?"
