Hi! I'm Sarah, and I've come here because I need a way to vent about my dungeon master feelings without it being directed at my players. I googled a few podcasts about the topic, but the best place I've found was DMB. All the topics were exactly what I wanted to hear, from big picture elements to help construct entire worlds, to smaller ideas that could be slipped into any narrative. It's been a few days of avidly consuming as many as I can.
I adore art and narrative, and have designed a few digital games here and there. I like to work on games and game mechanics as a hobby, but my biggest passion is storytelling (through art and writing). I also love to do goofy voices, and make my players cry when possible.
In regards to tabletop roleplay games, I begun when I was about twenty. when a friend of mine insisted that I try out Pathfinder. I played a few weeks of it, but broke my hand so I couldn't really do much of anything -- I've had a few run-ins with D&D and Pathfinder since, almost exclusively with homebrewed elements because all my friends were as interested in game development and mechanics as I was.
My very first DM experience was through my university course, where I had to design and run my own campaign, and it was abysmal. As such, I have wiped the majority of that from my memory. My first experience time as a DM (that didn't totally suck) was about a month and a half ago after two of my friends became addicted to Critical Role. I got asked to be their DM, and have been doing a weekly session for them ever since. I'm excited to branch out and learn more, but that's my little origin story.

Welcome Sarah! If you haven't given it a listen already, Episode 74 discusses small group games. It might be good listening for your 3-person group. Heck, I ought to give it another listen myself, as I'm DMing for a 2-player group soon, as well. They wanna do a Bonnie and Clyde whirlwind romance of destruction, so it should be fun for everyone.

Greeting and welcome to the Block Party! Glad to have you, and would love to hear more about "have designed a few digital games here and there" if you can talk about it. Love that making your players cry when possible is on your list. Can't wait to see your ideas shared on the forums!
