So... what does everyone think about the Dungeon Master's Guild? In your opinion is it useful at all, or is just basically a 5e focused Drive thru RPG?

From what I understand (Which is very limited) it's people are aloud to sell 5e based homebrew through sites like Drive thru RPG, and if you want to use their IP in your homebrew you are aloud to sell it though their store (presumably they make some percentage from the sale as well) also you can buy the D&D Adventures league PDFs (and all other WOTC PDFs) through it. I think it's a pretty nice idea, it makes sense for WOTC to sell all of their stuff in the same location, and to have anything else related to their stuff available there as well. I haven't had a look around it much as I prefer to have my physical books, but there is some free stuff that I might have to download (pre-gen characters and some other bits). Also Dungeon Masters Guild LinkNote: My understanding of it comes from This post on Tumblr, but the important bit is this quote:

I think it is great. Everything in one location, and WotC gives straight sysinct rules about how people can make thier own stuff. I actually am interested in taking advantage of it on the creator side of things.

From what I read, and I think this is kind of cool. You can take anything anyone else has put into their store, and use it as cannon in their own adventure. (Haven't verified that, but I like that.)

I was pretty sure you vould also get some freebies. pretty nice if its used right, but if it turns out like having to pay 15 bucks for a small little homebrew that they used to give out for free...

In terms of what Wizards will place on there, I think it will be a way for them to get the Encounters and Expeditions to people easier, but not sure if digital version of new things (like source books) will go there. They recently, maybe still do, put a ton of the Adventurers League stuff up for free. I don't how cool I think the sharing thing is you mentioned Kiado. If I have a really cool idea there is nothing stopping another person to just jump in and making an utterly spastic sequel that undermines anything I thought was actually happening in my own material. Not that it doesn't have it's place, and the OGL is amazing, but I think the Dungeon Master's Guild has some notable limitations. Check out this article for a deeper dive on how it works letsyouandhimfight.com/should-i-post-content-on-dms-guild/

Fascinating article and some amazing insight into the Guild. I can definitely see the problems with putting your work onto it, I would probably be fine with it (though, it is not like I would publish'anything anyway).

Is this idea too far fetched for d&d 5e? Prison that does not allow people to use any magic because a beholder is baried underneath with its eye pointing up? The eye that cancels magic.

So far I think DMGuild is a pretty handy way of anyone being able to show off their ideas to the D&D community. Published for the first time yesterday! Please check it out if you have a minute and if you decide you are interested, please give a review afterwards so I can improve the product/s with your help www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?488299-Lands-of-Blackspire
