Hello fellow DMs So I created a crit deck for my players. The purpose of this is to add something special/exotic to crit successes. The system works in that if the roll a nat20 on an attack roll, they draw a card from the crit deck and read the result that corresponds with what damage type they are doing. So each crit card has 4 categories on it. Bludgeoning/Piercing/Slashing/Magical(catch all for anything that isnt the other 3). The player reads the effect and then we apply it the game. The effect on the card is added to the standard double damage. My players really seem to enjoy this system and get even more pumped up when they crit during combat. The system and its results are for 5e but should be easily tweaked to fit another system. Below is a link to my crit deck google doc, and a link to a blank version you could use as a template. Hope you get some use out of this, and I am open to feedback on my own card ideas. My Crit DeckCrit Deck Template

I like this a lot. Simply stabbing someone in the heart or cutting their head off gets a little mundane after a while. Good way to spice things up a little for your players. Adds some mystery as to what will happen and excitement when they read aloud the overall damage and residual effects they left behind on the baddie.

Very cool idea! Thanks for sharing it with us! Because my personal alignment as a DM tends toward Lawful Evil, I am going to use your blank template to create a crit fumble deck too. *insert evil laughter*

O please do friartook! I am currently using a modified version of the Crit fumble system they discussed on the pod but would love to see what a Crit fumble deck looks like! I eagerly await your devious ideas.
