Wow, more amazing creatures! I am going to take the Nian. It is perfect for a Final Fantasy themed campaign. As for the Suzaku... that looks less like a Japanese Phoenix, then like a Japanese Emu. All three of these are awesome!

Wow, more amazing creatures! I am going to take the Nian. It is perfect for a Final Fantasy themed campaign. As for the Suzaku... that looks less like a Japanese Phoenix, then like a Japanese Emu. All three of these are awesome! Agreed - I was kind of going for a real prehistoric creature that could have led to stories of a phoenix. Also, it was hard to find images of a phoenix that seemed like someone could reasonably saddle up. But, for a FF themed campaign, Suzaku are clearly very similar to Chocobo, and that is intentional ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) According to wikipedia at least, the chocobo was partly based on the gastornis, which was an ancient flightless bird I also looked at as inspiration for the Suzaku. But, anyway, in the Suzaku I saw a point where I could borrow the idea of the chocobo without the name, basically. I also really like the image of light cavalry composed of people riding huge flightless birds.
