So, I've been running a slipshod homebrew campaign for over a year now, and I still hadn't solidified a map of the land it takes place in. Some things came up in our last session that made it clear it was time to create some sort of solid reference for my players. So: World Map-Layout2.pdf (738.99 KB) I was going to insert an image, but the file size is too large and I've already spent too much of my work day messin' with this, lol. This is very much a preliminary map. It mostly represents the areas the PCs know about and/or have been to. You will notice a distinct lack of political boundaries. This is on purpose; the world at this time is just limping up to speed after a major catastrophe, and mostly there are independent city-states scattered here and there. There are some exceptions, but they are far away and not important to this map. This was created in AutoCAD, because its a software I know well and can manipulate easily. I'd like to try my hand at a custom map built similarly in Gimp or another, more "image" oriented software. Also, if the text seems small, that is because this is meant to be a 24x36 poster map.

This looks amazing! Better than anything I could do in the same amount of time I'm sure, haha. I have to ask, if this were a map of a mall where would the "You Are Here" sticker be for your party? If they frequent these forums then let me know through PM. Seriously though, awesome map.

They are just leaving the port city of Daiyun, on the SW side of the map, west of the Dragonplain.

Daiyun is an awesome name! for some reason it reminds me of a name some of you might remember. "weyland Yutani"...lol I completely used that to create a noble house in my world named Waylon which is run by a Half-Elf art/artifact collector. IF the current group can keep their stuff together, I am going to run a side mission for them that involves House Waylon recruiting the group to go collect a meteorite fragment. In the process of looking for/finding this fragment they are going to have to do a dungeon crawl through a tomb located deep in a jungle. This tomb is going to be filled with various 'aliens'...
I am a huge Aliens fan and had to do something with it....I am working on building up enough background noise to use with the game over roll20 to create a spooky feeling for that session(s).
Names are the most difficult piece for me. Good job on making it look easy!

I love the way everything is called a sea. Such a cool idea. I also like the idea of everything being city states after a disaster. It totally explains everything being rough and tumble, as well as the presence of plenty of old places to explore and get cool stuff from.

And once again, lazy/hasty writing comes off as cool This seems to be my specialty as a DM: making my slipshod choices seem deliberate and pre-planned.
