Have just a quick question. I am planning to get a DM screen soon (just have to use my legs first). I was wondering, until then, how I should roll without my players seeing the result (none of my players will let me fudge if they see the result). I tried behind my iPad, propping up books, and cupping it with my hands but it was all too cumbersome for my taste. Any ideas before I get a screen (or if I even should get a screen).

I use my hand sometimes, but if you really want to keep it hidden without a screen you could use an electronic device. I assume there are countless dice rolling apps on the App Store, and you could easily keep that private. You could also use your cell phone which would be much easier to hide than an iPad. What type of screen are you going to get? I assume you are making one of these: imgur.com/a/9Mokvimgur.com/gallery/bLIxU

Small container with a flat bottom, like a cup. Hand over the opening, give it a shake, look over the rim. Doesn't work so well when you have to roll lots of dice (i.e. fireball, etc.) unless the container is big enough for each die to fall flat, but I've preferred this method for smaller dice pools when there's very limited table space.

I've made my own DM screen for GURPs by printing off any of the necessary charts on cardstock and taping them together. Since it's GURPS it's 8 pages long, but it makes a pretty effective DM screen (at least for keeping the notes and rolls hidden)

Hey, thanks for the ideas! Might even do an Amalgam of all of these.
