What if a Steam Mephit, but more so?
This was a boss monster I made up for my nephew to fight when my other nephew wasn't satisfied with how little a single steam mephit is.
It uses the Angry GM paragon monster rules, and I am looking forward to using it.
Nephew will be riding a griffon so don't worry about fly speeds.
Steam Mephit Boss

Speed 30', Fly 30'
Str -3 Dex 0 Con 0 Int 0 Wis 0 Cha +1
Dmg Immunity Fire, poison
Cond. Immunity Poisoned
Senses Darkvision 60' Perception 10
Languages Aquan, Ignan
Challenge paragon 1/4 (200 XP) 4 creatures

Paragon Fortitude. Each HP pool is tracked separately.
Effects on the mephit end when pool is reduced to 0.
If all pools reduce to 0 the mephit is killed
Paragon Exhaustion The mephit takes one turn for each hit pool above zero
and receives one reaction per hit pool above zero
When a pool is reduced to 0, it loses one turn.
It gains advantage on Initiative
Each later turn happens immediately after any one PC's turn
Paragon Expanded Size is based on pools 4 - Medium, 2- Small, 1-Tiny
Reactions
Paragon Split When mephit has more than one pool, and takes slashing or lightning damage
it splits in 2. HP Pools are divided evenly between new.
Paragon Stabilization on Initiative 20 mephit distributes HP evenly among all hit point pools.
HP may not be added to pool at 0.
Paragon Absorption. When two mephet are adjacent, they may. The absorbed target is destroyed. The mephit gains the hit points pools of the target, including the current hit points and maximum hit points. If any of those pools has been reduced to zero, the mephit gains that pool, but that pool is still reduced to zero. All effects based on the hit point pools of the mephit are refigured based on the new number of hit point pools. The mephit may immediately use Paragon Stabilization.
This should have some fun elements. Nephew will be swinging a glaive, so the split should happen early on.
I was going to leave the steam breath & blur to only the tiny mephits so the stakes increase as the baddies get smaller.
Most importantly, it will be easy for the final tiny mephit to throw the griffon's egg into the air and escape (the quest item).
