Okay, so im sure that many of you are familiar with The Adventure Zone Podcast, and if you arent, then hey, thats something you should look into. anyway, the adventurers in the podcast frequently visit a store called Fantasy Costco where they spend their acquired gold on fancy magical items, and i have chosen to adapt this store into my campaigns. the following lists contain many items from the show, as well as many that i have made up over the past year or so. enjoy!!
Fantasy Costco
Healing Potion
Cost: 50gp
ingesting this potion heals the user 1d8+4 points of damage.
Wine
Cost: 40gp
The effects of this drink varies from person to person, but when ingested characters tend to act differently from how they are described on their character sheets.
Uber-Wine
Cost: 200gp
This liquid has the appearance of wine, but it is illegal to drink… This probably shouldn’t be sold here…
Rope
Cost: 40gp
Just a normal 20-foot coil of rope. It may seem simple, but it has literally infinite uses.
Uber-Rope
Cost: 50gp
This item looks like a normal 20-foot coil of rope, but it has a mysterious aura around it, and the tag suggests it can bend the laws of fantasy physics.
Trapper’s kit
Cost: 120gp
This is a medium sized backpack that contains all of the stuff that any mischievous adventurer might want to use to make some mischievous traps, including rope, bear traps, some poison, oil, and much much more.
Spellbook
Cost: 20gp for a lvl 1 spell, +20 gold per level.
One out of a large selection of spellbooks. Any class can use any of these spells, but you must be of the same level or higher.
The Chrono-Belt
Cost: 300gp
A leather belt with a clock as the buckle that can be used by a clever adventurer to slow time and allow them more time to react or dodge enemy attacks.
Deck Of Questionable Cards

A deck of magical cards that can be manipulated in the favor of a strong magic user to be used in creative ways.
The Broadsword Of Legend Collection
Cost: 300gp
A sword that becomes more powerful the more stories that are told to it. Every once and a while the player can tell the weapon a tale, story, or legend. If the story is good (DM’s discretion) then the weapon will become more powerful.

Pet food that can be given to monsters and beasts that will make them more likely to like you!

Temporary Die Of The Golden Dragon

A pure golden D20 that can only be rolled once, but when rolled, yields gold equal to the number rolled times 10. However, if a one is rolled, then a Golden Dragon is summoned.
Less Temporary Die Of The Golden Dragon

A pure golden D20 that, when rolled, yields gold equal to the number rolled times 10. However, if a one is rolled, then a Beholder is summoned, and if a Golden Dragon is summoned, then the die is destroyed.

Monocle Of Infinite Knowledge
Cost: 200gp
This item can only be used 5 times, but when it is used on a monster the Dungeon Master must show you the page of the Monster manual about that monster, reveal all of its information, including attacks, strengths, and weaknesses, and tell the party of anything special about the monster in question.
Cane Of Transmutation
Cost: 250gp
This cane has the appearance of a simple wooden cane with a silver dragon head on the top and it can transmute 25 pounds of one thing into 25 pounds of another thing (excluding valuable materials) per day by simply tapping the cane on the surface the user wants to transmute.
Alchemist Ring
Cost: 500gp
When the wearer of this ring imbibes a healing potion, they recieve an additional 1d6 hit points.
Anti-Gravity Sphere
Cost: 100gp
A small, fist-sized glass ball filled with a silvery smoke. When the sphere is destroyed, it diables the effect of gravity on everything within a 30ft radius.
Rusted Can of Cheerewine
Cost: 150gp
A very badly worn can that radiates vital energy. Whoever drinks its contents gains +5 to their max hit points.
All-or-Nothing Coin
Cost: 150gp
At any point, the owner of the coin can substitute a regular 2-sided coin flip in place of a d20 roll. If the coin lands on heads, it is considered a Critical Hit. If the coin lands on tails, it is considered a Critical Fail.
Mockingbird Gum
Cost: 150gp
A pack of gum containing 5 pieces. Whoever chews a piece of this gum is able to emulate the voice of another person for up to an hour.
Jar of Bees
Cost: 150gp
A jar of bees... This can be thrown and smashed to distract enemies.
Stronmaus' Laughing Amulet
Cost: 300gp
Traditionally worn by a high priest of the boisterous and jovial, smiling God. The amulet carries the image of a stylized human face, mouth open in laughter. Whenever a foe is defeated, the wearer may activate the amulet by tapping it twice and then delivering the best taunting joke or victorious one-liner applicable to the current situation. If the jest pleases Stronmaus (DM), he rewards the adventurer by recharging up to 1d10+Con hp. But Stronmaus is a fickle god; jokes that fail are punished with a small bolt of lightning, dealing 1d6 lightning damage per failure.

this magical item has the appearance of a regular bath bomb, however, when the bomb is thrown into water, a soapy, bubbly water elemental erupts from the water. It can be used to fight enemies, or just to scrub those hard to reach places!

this book is full of odd sentences and phrases that make very little since, but just enough to confuse you. One sentence on the back is “this sentence is false”, another asks “if a god has infinite power, can he limit his own power?”
Vamp Cloak

this cloak has a soft red velvet inside and a black silk outside that shimmers and shines. This cloak in imbued with vampiric magics that allow its user to blink short distances (around 10 feet) to surprise and confuse enemies.

this magical bag of holding used to belong to a famous tinkerer who was not really all that organized, so by purchasing this bag you can harness all of that tinkerer’s random bits of metal, scrap, Cheetos, and whatever else you find in there!

this small leather bag has no opening or way to access its inside. It will, however, explode into a pile of sticky web substance if it is pierced or stepped on, it will entangle whoever or whatever is near it.

this item is a small sticky glob of something unknown and whenever it is flicked or struck sharply it will instantly harden, forever attaching any two things that might be touching the glob.

A simple box made of cardboard that is a necessity in any master sneeky dood’s arsenal. This weapon of stealth can be used to surprise any enemy or giant nuclear-warhead-firing robot, or simply sneak right past them.

This special Dog treat releases powerful chemicals that attract any canine within a very large area. No dog within snffing range can resist running towards this bone once thrown.

A magical blue potion that will eliminate or lessen the effects of ANY effect that is currently afflicting a player. This includes debuffs as well as buffs.
Loyal Boomerang

This boomerang is more layal than any organic creature or beast is capable of being. It comes to love its owner and it will always return to its owners hands regardless of physical obstructions!… as long as you treat your boomerang friend right.
Quickbow

This tiny crossbow can be held and operated in one hand and shoots small 2 and a half inch bolts at high speeds towards its target.
Toxic Quickbow
Cost: 500
An altered replica of the Quickbow that comes with toxic tipped bolts. This poisonous pricker does the same amount of damage as the Quickbow, but adds a bit of a chemical kick to it as well.
Smiley Sticker Sheet

This small sheet of smiley faced stickers can be used to inspire a player in their rolls. The stickers can be used in any roll and adds 2 to that roll. However, each sticker sheet only has 5 stickers on it.
