When going through my Google Drive folders earlier today, I stumbled across a campaign setting that I started around this time last year. Pathfinder ruleset, 5 playable races (all custom), limited selection of classes from all the pathfinder books, no coinage, no metal, hide armor being the best available, alignment thrown out, etc.
The basic idea behind the setting: This is not a world of knights, wizards, princesses and dragons. This is a world of survival. You are not playing as dwarves, elves, halflings, or gnomes. Not because the story takes place after the end times. But because the classic fantasy races have yet to evolve. Will you play as a shanidar, the muscled cave dwellers that one day will be known as orcs? Or perhaps you'll be ebu gogo, the ancestor of dwarves, gnomes, and halflings. Turkana, the ancestor of humans and elves, might be more your taste. What about the karabo, the last remnants of an earlier, dying breed. No, well perhaps the ukuhleka will peak your interest, want to play the ancestor of the savage gnolls?
As the title says, this setting is about the Dawn of Humanoids.
This basic premise is the reason behind all the strict limits on character creation: most of the core material is inappropriate for the time period. Even the earliest estimates of the first use of metallurgy is still 2-3 million years later. When you're concerned mostly with getting enough food to eat and avoiding predators, good and evil fall to the wayside. This early in the history of the world, the more "advanced" classes simply haven't developed yet.
Thoughts?

That and an episode of NOVA were among the original inspirations for the setting. Even most of the new "primitive" weapons in Ultimate Combat are too advanced. Essentially, weapons are limited to spears, clubs, slings, and a few improved versions of those (IE: the atlatl). Armor is limited to leather, studded leather, and hide. One of the recent changes that I've made is making it a P6 setting. The highest level characters are at level 6, and even limiting adversaries to NPCs and creatures of the Animal type, there's plenty of threats that the PCs will have to run away from. The highest CR for a creature of the Animal type is 14, more than double the party's max level. Then there's the homebrew proto-dragons that I'll be making as well as various drakes. All together, there's a potential bestiary of well over 370 beasties.

Could I see the docs? I'd really like to look at it further. I might then even use it if that's okay!
From the brief description you gave me, I like the idea, I just think that maybe you can take away one or two of the races, as it'd be hard for people to remember all the names. Although it's fine the way it is and I'd still want to buy it if it was in a store. Also, what about dragons? Have they evolved yet? Maybe the people of the world likes hunting the dragons down and using their hide as armor and such, and their teeth and claws (once cut and made blunt), as money instead of gold pieces, silver pieces, etc.
Also, I want to know, do the people of the world yet live in cities? But basic ones? Or are they still cave-dwellers?
I hope you keep working on the setting!

Regarding dragons, it's more appropriate to say that there are proto-dragons. Big scaly beasties that come in three different varieties: land, sea, and sky. Of the three only sky dragons have wings and can fly, land dragons are more akin to apex predatory dinosaurs in body plan while sea dragons are much more serpentine/plesiosauroid. On the rare occasions that they can get dragon hide or parts, the weapons, ornaments, and armor made from them are amongst the most prized there are.
Still cave-dwellers. At this point in the setting's timeline the aboleth are just founding their undersea empires. So when the ancient evil is only just starting out, you know you're a ways back in the past.
