So who is your favorite Marvel character and why?
As a writer, I'm always analyzing why a particular character resonates with me, and they aren't typically the ones the general populace loves.

My choices are cliche, but I liked them before it was cool Spiderman: I love him for his sarcastic quips and his human complexity. In his normal life he's just a college kid trying to make life work. Family, relationships, all the stuff we all have to deal with. As a superhero he is actually kind of vulnerable and weak. Its not like he wears armor or anything; when he gets hit he feels it! And he's always talking smack to the bad guys. Mocking them. I guess that resonates with me; when something bothers me or scares me I tend to make light of it. A device for removing the power of fear. Wolverine: Yeah, yeah, I know. By now its totally cliche to like Wolverine. Everyone likes Wolverine. He's Hugh Jackman now, he's sexy. But he didn't used to be. He used to be short, stocky, surly and hairy. He smoked cigars and called everyone bub. He wanted Jean Grey, but she didn't want anything to do with him. She had tall, charismatic Cyclops...what would she want with a hairy, mean, cigar smoking brute? He had to work on her for years before she showed any interest. He never gave a care for what others thought of him and he always stood aloof from his teammates. These things, combined with his complex past, have made him one of my favorite characters through the years. I loved the era where he faked his death and took on the Patch identity. As if nobody would recognize that hair...

I will jump on some of the band wagons as well.
Wolverine has always been my favorite, for many of the same reasons that Friartook has put. He is the closest thing to a dwarven fighter as possible. I loved that the character had the ability to both be extremely simple and mind-numbingly complex at the same time. I think my favorite time was after they tried to fuse adamantium back into him, and became extremely feral afterwards.
Deadpool is also pretty high on my list. The breaking of the fourth wall, and the ability to make fun of anything speaks to my personal sense of humor so well. The latest series written by Gerry Dugan and Brian Pohsen has been very very good. I mean it started out with him having to fight the undead Us Presidents, and it's hard to argue with that.
Mr. Sinister is probably my favorite villain because of how ridiculous and above it all he tries to be. How deep his story goes into other characters past (including Wolverine) is truly compelling. He is undeniably evil, but he does well to think he is doing the "right" thing, which makes for a more compelling villain.

When it comes to my favorite superheroes, I am all over the place. Daredevil: He is a grittier superhero than Spider-Man, but retains Spidey's personality. He is called an adventurer and a lot of his stories read like that (especially the ones with Ka-Zaar). Also, I like the fact that he is a lawyer. It makes me laugh whenever he defends the men he had arrested as Daredevil (or when he is helping the Submariner sue humanity). Hank McCoy: The Beast before he grew blue hair (what is that about?). Hank McCoy is like the muscle of the original Xmen. But, he is also their equipment and math expert as well. This is an awesome (and unlikely) combination of strength and brains. 8ball: heh, just kidding. What kind of superhero was 8ball? Ridiculous.

I think it was DD that started my comic craze. I literally bought all the Daredevil comics in the book store (it was a small bookstore). DD next month on Netflix! I cannot contain my excitement!

Same here, I am so happy that DD is making a comeback! Though it sounds like it is just the tip of the iceberg. Fist and Cage may come next! (They say it is for the Defenders series, but I do wish they had made a Marvel Knight show instead )

Yeah, Marvel was selling it as a 60 episode block, and Netflix bought it. DD - 13 episodes, Jessica Jones - 13 episodes, Iron Fist - 13 episodes, Luke Cage - 13 episodes, Defenders mini series - 8 episodes. Supposedly in that order. The first two are 100% confirmed and the mini series is to wrap it all together. Should be amazing, but I agree I REALLY hope they focus on the Marvel Knights with the next set if this goes well. Some Ghost Rider, Blade, Punisher goodness would be amazing, and if it's on Netflix they can do whatever they want!

All time favorite: Nightcrawler. The epitome of selfless hero. Also, I love acrobatics.
Loved Wolverine too, back in the 80s, but once he was in every Marvel team they own, I gave up. They actually joked about it in an issue of Avengers (I think). Someone's communicator was going off and Wolverine pulled a handful of comms out of his pocket for FF, Avengers, X-Men, Defenders, etc, etc.
The Netflix series is pure genius on Marvel's part. I do wish DC would learn a lesson from what's working, and from their Animated success, and get that on the big screen.

Oh man, If they did a Netflix Punisher that would be amazing. The gritty-er the better. I really would love to see Moon Knight though! I think he would make an amazing series. Such an interesting character.

He totally does have that selfless attitude. All the way up until the end... I've read that comic that your talking about. I think it's one of the New Avengers comic lines. Possibly Venom Bomb. So great. I mean...lets be honest... like Wolverine or not... who wouldn't want him on their team? (He's also in X-force...my personal Wolverine team favorite...)

I agree DM Mitch, the Uncanny X-force team was probably the greatest team I could have hoped for in terms of a Wolverine team. That and the old school X-men combo of Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Colossus squeeeee! I'm really hopefully that the Netflix series do extremely well and spur more to be created. I love that as long as Agents of Shield does well enough Marvel will continue to use it as a great marketing tool each week to remind people that Marvel is still cranking out awesome things. Also, Agent Carter was amazing, and I'm torn on whether I would want another season of it next year, or for them to tackle something else!

So who is your favorite Marvel character and why? As a writer, I'm always analyzing why a particular character resonates with me, and they aren't typically the ones the general populace loves. Two words. Frank Castiglione. 'Nuff said. I am a huge 2A supporter and love me some firearms. Frank is like Marvel's Batman. No super-powers, just a lotta guns and training. Loved the War Journals most of all, and Jim Lee's versions were my all-time favorites.

Probably not the only thing since there are lots of characters out there with big guns. Why is Frank a compelling character for you?

I like frank because he is the closest to a real "super-hero" that exists, some people say batman fills that role but I disagree. Batman has super ninja training, hightech toys that dont exist, and is also a billionaire playboy. Frank is a guy with a gun, and a code. Its actually kinda scary to think about. That makes him super relatable and very relevant when discussing 2A rights and their role in society. Frank is an interesting case study in gun control laws and their effects on society. He is very much real in a way many other super heros can never because they are the stuff of make believe. Ok that turned into way more of a comment on frank than I intended, anyway wish Thomas Jane was still the punisher.
