I'm surprised that there isn't a thread for this already, but WotC's D&D Beyond beta has just launched! I've had a little play with it and it looks pretty nice. Has anyone else signed up and looked at it? What do you think? The stuff that is on there currently is pretty good, if nothing else the monster section is going to make it easy finding appropriate monsters by CR, Location and other variables.

I like how things are broken up category wise and everything loads quickly, so yay.
Things I don't like so far: Adventuring Gear, Weapons, and Armor layouts are very annoying and almost unusable. It needs to be more table formatted (closer to monster entry maybe if the formatting can't be fixed).
i really don't like the colored ability scores (or the icon really, but less so) in the monster stat blocks. They serve no real purpose and it feels like they just wanted to add color for some reason.
Multiple entries for things like Ademantite armor under Magic Items. There has got to be a better way of doing this. It's ugly and cluttered.
For spell list, the Spell level should be as selectable as the class (like a second row beneath the class ). Putting it in advanced filters makes me have to click 5 times instead of once on the screen Past these annoyances that can easily be fixed. It works well enough so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

I hesitate any level of investment at this point as I think this is the third attempt at the digital format. The hesitancy is also with the price, there is rumbling of both a subscription needed as well as purchase of material to be used with the product. I will likely wait some time before giving it a go.

I'm hoping the pay format ends up being similar to DnD insider from 4e, which after the bugs were worked out worked pretty well.
Currently the free open beta is no better then an online SRD, and in general some of the formatting is worse (dmcalrb has already covered them).

Call me old school, but I view it as unnecessary for playing in person - maybe even a hindrance as clicking and scrolling can take more time than simply finding what I need to know in front of me on my hard copy character sheet. Alright, I admit I'll update a PDF at each level and reprint my sheet so it looks nice - but as for tracking treasure, XP, HP, etc, pencil it is. For a spell caster, I'll create a customized spell book on www.dnd-spells.com/ and print that out to save some time over thumbing through the PHB. As a DM, I'll put bookmarks in the MM to easily find the monsters I intend to use that session. In my campaign notebook, I'll write out some notes about the monsters, including the HP totals, so I can easily run a combat. Rolling real dice always feels better than using a computerized dice calculator IMHO, too. Part of why I play is to escape from the devices that are omnipresent in every other part of life - though I'm not beyond surfing the forums and listening to podcasts to become a better player and DM...

I did some digging and I quite like the page you get when you try and access the page for what I presume should be the character builder and campaign planner.
