Hello all, I have a couple questions based on my world's views on religion and how it relates to my players. I am new to DMing and world building in general, so if some of this sounds basic, that is why. However, my players are also new, and real life friends of mine, so they are understanding what I am trying to do and have agreed to this concept.
My world was created by a being simply known as the Creator. After forming the world, and it's 4 associated planes, he placed 6 Arbiters in charge of the world, and gave them only 1 Mandate, they were forbidden to create life, or destroy life. He also placed the seeds for the 12 races in the earth and then he left.
To shorten a long story, there was a disagreement between the Arbiters after the 12 races began to appear as to how the Arbiters were to go about ruling over the 12 races, some of them believed the Creator would return to see what they had done with the world, others believed he would never be seen again. Two of them wanted to use oppressive, heavy handed tactics to create order and instill the virtues of fear and devotion in perfect harmony. Four of them were in favor of less harsh approaches. I will include a brief description of them here:
Mohr: He was the driving force behind the idea that the best form of rule was to enslave and subjugate. He is extremely lawful evil, believing that the 12 races were placed on the world to serve the Arbiters and allow them to prove their competence to the returning Creator.
Tabbris: Known as the "Mad Queen," in secret she corrupted a small amount of Dragonborn, turning them into true, feral dragons, she orchestrated the meeting between Mohr and Abbadon to find some resolution to the schism between the Arbiters
Abbadon: He was in favor of the Arbiter's Lawful Right to Rule, and agreed with Mohr that the Creator would return. He was, however, much more righteous in his methods, encouraging grace, mercy and freedom for the 12 races. He was killed by the corrupted Dragonborn agents of Tabbris, sparking the beginning of the Arbiter's War.
Daphiel: She was Abbadon's greatest supporter, believing in the Right to Rule, and urging benevolence from the Arbiter's to the young and eager 12 races. If Abbadon was the stern and loving father, Daphiel was the kind and caring mother.
Mikhal: He was not in favor of the Right to Rule, nor did he believe the Arbiters had any responsibility to the 12 races of Daskyria. He wandered constantly across the world, exploring the land and seeking to learn all he could about the Creator's handiwork. Only when Tabbris contrived the death of Abbadon, did Mikhal invest himself in the struggles of the Arbiters.
Branelle: Like Mikhal, she did not believe in the Right to Rule. However she spent her time invested in the lives of the 12 races, and the oldest races that remember her best, love and revere her. Ever humble, ever caring about the welfare of the 12 races, she encouraged humility, believing that the Creator had instilled in the races of Daskyria wisdom and knowledge that it was the duty of the Arbiters glean from their lives and interactions.
After the Arbiter's War, there were many who became distrustful of the Arbiters, and they learned to harness , the Divine Magic that was the Echo of the Creator on Daskyria. They became Clerics and Paladins, ever hopeful for the return of the Creator to judge the actions of Men, Elves and Arbiters alike.
Some still had faith in the Arbiters wisdom and devoted themselves to meditation on the essences of the Arbiters themselves. These are the Great Monasteries, each paying homage to the ideals of the Arbiter they serve.
Sorry for the long introduction, now my simple question.
Based on these characteristics, what Monk Schools could you recommend to align with the separate Arbiters? I know that some may have to be home brewed, and I want to get the feeling of the schools and their patron deities right, but like I said, I am new to d&d, and was looking for advise:)
