Hey All
After lurking for a while and finally making a few posts I figured I should do the whole meet and great thing.
My name is Ally and I originally hail from the SMALLEST town in Illinois. No really. Mayberry is bigger than the town I lived in. Like it had 1 stop light. ONE. But now I reside on the surface of the sun. Sometimes also know as Phoenix Az, (Although this week it is Monsooning. You have to have a boat just to get anywhere), with my husband and the two best kittens ever. (I know I am probably biased). In the real world I work as the Props master for a regional dinner theatre. A skill the come in handy with D&D.
I have been DMing for just over a year and playing D&D for like 8 years or so. (I think that's right) Yes I play 4e. Yes I know (and understand) the problems with 4e. When I started playing it was still new and my friend that got us into it that is what he wanted to try so thats what I learned. We were all wary of 5e when it first came out. And now we just don't want to start spending the money to get the new books and work on switching our characters over. Maybe when we end this campaign. But we are having fun and we are playing and in the end that is all that matters.
Top 5 lists seems to be all the rage so I figured I would also get on this band wagon (along with some other things)
Books
1.Harry Potter
2. Dalemark Quartet (Diane Wayne Jones)
3. The Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her Own Making (And its sequels)
4. The Ranger Apprentice Series
5. Wizard of Oz
Movies
1 Beauty and the Beast (well any Disney but this is my Fav)
2. Wizard of Oz (I know this is a strange one but that movie-and book- helped me thru some hard times)
3. Meet the Robinsons
4 Captain America
5 Harry Potter
Food/Drinks
1. I love a good burger...mmmm...with some blue cheese. Yummy
2. And a good strong Porter to go with it.
3. Also a good iced tea.
4. Tuna Casserole
5. Wings
Superhero/Villans
1. Captain America. That should really be all the list. He's my fav. My fist Super Hero. The 1st comic book I owned.
2. Thor.
3. The Riddler
4. Umbridge
5. Wonder Woman.
Clearly I am a Marvel Girl. I'm just not a fan of DC. Not that is one is better than the other, I just have my favorite. Also I have had this deep seeded hatred of Iron Man for a while (Civil War comic fueled it but didn't cause it) but with the new movie I have compassion for him and it is causing me an identity crisis. Also I don't like Batman (go ahead hate me-I know unpopular opinion) but he does some of the BEST villains.
Podcasts (Beside DMB)
This one is hard. I listen to 32 podcast
1. Stuff you missed in History Class
2.Welcome to Nightvale
3. Trends Like these
4.Thrilling Adventure Hour
5.The Adventure Zone
Other things that arent' really lists
I like TNG the best although Janeway is my favorite Captain.
David Tenet is my favorite reboot Doctor and Tom Baker is my fav classic Doctor
My favorite non-traditional D&D inspiration source is the Stuff to Blow your Mind podcast. Listen to the Library of Babel episode. Seriously.
Star Trek>Star Wars (although both are Great)
I do love watching sports. Baseball is my favorite (on the radio is best) but boy can I get into a football game.
That's it for now. Thank you all for hanging around this long. Feel free to AMA.
