update: we've got four players now, and will be starting this Saturday evening. Thanks to all who expressed an interest!
---
I've been wanting to start an online campaign on roll20 for over a year now, but my living situation made that untenable. The situation changed recently, so I'm finally preparing to start!
At this point I'm just putting my sensors out there to find out if there are enough blockheads to fill out a group before I open the game to the public on roll20. I'm pretty flexible with the type of game I run, but I do have a few requirements for this particular venture:
1) Roll20 platform and a microphone. Most of the game will occur by voice chat.
2) D&D 5e system. I'm competent to run other systems, but this is what I feel like running. New players are welcome!
3) Friday-Sunday. My summer schedule is pretty open, but Monday-Thursday is going to be busy starting October.
If this works for you, get in touch here, by private message, or e-mail me at james.t.mcdonald@gmail.com. Please include your exact availability (remember, Fri-Sun only) along with any other information you care to share. I'm especially interested in your favorite part of RPGs (role playing, combat and tactics, etc.), your favorite fantasy media (books, film, video games, etc.) and your background with RPGs (again, no experience necessary to join, just a matter of interest to me).

alright a few questions What kind of campaign is this going to be? I currently run a game on friday/saturdays so I would be interested in knowing what the exact time frame for this game would be. I will be starting school soon so preferably I would like evening games
I have been playing DnD since I was young and during the AD&D days. I currently DM a homebrew 5e campaign and I am would definitely like to PLAY again. I enjoy role-playing and character development, combat and tactics, and many other aspects of table-top rpgs. I love reading fantasy books and watching things like the Hobbit series, GoT, etc.
Let me know what time frame this is and I can give you a definite yes or no

The kind of campaign is going to depend a lot on what people tell me they want. Source material and genre are still up in the air. Could be homebrew or published content, horror or heroic fantasy, combat-centric or investigative, and so on.
As for the time frame, I prefer evenings myself, but there's nothing exact yet. Also the answer depends on your time zone. I'm west coast, while another person that has expressed interest is east coast. I will say that I'm aiming for a 4-hour block of time, though in practice, games will probably run shorter than that (and very rarely, longer).
My ideal day/time would be Friday 4-8 PM, with games taking place every other week. Again, though, I'm flexible.

I too am an Eastie so I like this other persons mindset already lol. That would be awesome if we could schedule it on the days I am not running mine. Sounds freaking awesome so far.
Throwing together a concept character. Looking at maybe running a rogue or a fighter for this character build.

I'd hold off on investing too much time on character planning. Again, I'm leaving a lot of starting parameters to group consensus. If the majority of people want to do a wizard-only group, wizard-only it is.
Once I have at least four people, we'll do a session-0 to figure all that out.

Took a half hour to do some general concept ideas. Nothing too big to worry about. I understand that there is still a lot up in the air.
