Time for another DM-Nastics exercise! In keeping with the idea of matching the theme of the show. I figured It should totally be a pirate-infused DM-Nastics. Below are some pictures of imaginary pirates taken from the subreddit r/ImaginaryPirates Your job is to make either an NPC, PC, Plot Hook or story idea from the picture provided. Good Luck and Have Fun!! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. There you go 8 picture of awesome pirate inspiration! Remember make an NPC, PC, Plot Hook or story idea! Link to DM-Nastics Segment #3

Here are a few Ideas.
1: Arr! These are me mates, Ned and Ted. Ned is that tall, skinny one back there. 'E is as dumb as a box of squid beaks. Ned is a master swords man, even if 'e don't know what to stab. Ted, we call him Stumpy, thinks 'e is more of a thinker then he act'ly thinks. Ted's the ring leader 'o the two. They actually think that bringing that fish into the midst 'o a raid will give 'em luck. Either that or they's tryin to fly with it, heh heh.
Ned/(Ted) Armor Class: 11 Leather/(13) Hit Points: 37/(52) Speed: 30ft./(30ft.) STR: 16/(15) DEX: 12/(11) CON: 14/(17) INT: 9/(10) WIS: 9/(10) CHA: 9/(7) Language: Pirate Common! Idiot: Ned will flee the scene if Ted dies or flees. (Reckless: at the start of his turn, Ted can gain advantage on melee rolls, but attack rolls on Ted have an advantage. Ends at the end of turn).
2: Err... I ain't be knowin what that thing ers. Looks kinda like Fluv, the guard'un of Atlantis. Well, we pirates call him Fluv, don't go sayin tha' to 'is 'ere face. Fluv, I think his real name is Luvius, contains the key to Atlantis, but gives it up to no man.
3: Firebeard, the horror, is the Wraith of the Seven Seas. He gave his soul to a dragon in exchange for immortality and power. When Firebeard was young, known only as The Seadog, he fell in love to a young mergal named Akwaa. They had a child named Luvius, which we pirates call Fluv. Firebeard can be a zombie, pirate, and half-dragon at a mere change of thought.
4: Tesla is a lass born to ar rich noble man called Tifus. Tesla lost 'er mind cause o' some curses her pappy brought on. She ain't completely sain and fights like a devil, but she is quite soft at heart, e'en if ya can't understand a word she's sayin. She fell pretty hard for tha' youngster called Fluv, lucky man.
5: How does the offspering of a gnome and a shark live? Shrak tis a strange creature. Though he acts like an animal, he has an almost human loyalty to Fluv alone and to the defense of Atlantis. I wouldn't go near that un if I were you. Gnome and Shark! Tis ridiculous.
6: That's me and my buddy Spirit. We sailin with Ned and Ted to Sunshine Inn. I have to get four adventurers on my boat so I can sacrifice them to Kraken, just makin me annual rounds. Dang squid King.
7: Well, tha' sac'frice didn't go no good. Look at those 'eroes battling that sorta deformed, baby kraken... Act'tly I don't think that is a Kraken. Ted, Ned, lower the life boat, per'aps we can get away before the 'eroes realize what we were a tryin to do! Obviously sacrificing the heroes dinint make me Kraken Tax any cheaper. Dang nab it!
8: This un right 'ere is a pirate.

Number 7
The Ocean has always been a fickle thing. The second you think that you have seen everything it has to offer is the same second in which it surprises you with something new and unexpected. Long ago a great city known now only as Nautilus sat on the coast of the great nation on which we now walk. One day great waves began to come from the sea and caused cracks to form in the rock on which the city sat. The citizens were not afraid, they had seen everything the sea could do and quickly found this to be a normal occurrence. However, with time the cracks widened and one day without warning the city sunk into the sea. Only a single man survived that day and only made it to the nearest town yelling discoherently before he collapsed to the ground and died of exhaustion.
Many years have passed since that day and now many people believe that this city does not exist and is but a legend to scare children. However, they are wrong and soon the entire land will once again witness the horrors of the drowned city.
A pair of pirate ships fighting each other along that same coast began to hear a sound like a rushing wave. However, when they looked out to sea saw no such thing. In fact it seemed as though the water was strangely calm. Suddenly all around them whirlpools began to form and the water flowed downward into the depths. The ships fought against the pull of the whirlpools but soon found it impossible. The ships went under along with their crews. The captain of the two ships were old rivals who had once sailed under another captains banner. Upon his death the two had left the ship to become the two most legendary pirates the world had ever seen.
Soon enough the two captains woke to find themselves laying in a ruined town surrounded by the wreckage of their ships. Looking around they saw their dead crew ut surprisingly found no water above or around them other then that which soaked the ground they stood on. It was as if the sea had never existed in this place. They pulled their swords as they heard a loud sloshing sound around the corner of a building. From behind it emerged a great beast of the sea. A strange creature which waled on two clawed legs and had 4 tentacles emanating from its sides. Perhaps the most horrifying thing about this monster was that it's eyes did not rest above its great cavity of a mouth but on one of its tentacles. They looked at each other nodded and began to sprint toward the monster....
So I guess I didn't really do this very well because it is supposed to be an NPC, PC, plot hook or story idea... However, I guess it counts as a story idea and the two captains could easily be NPC's who help your PC's or perhaps you have a small group and two players are captains and two are other ship survivors such as the ships two quarter masters or something. Just an idea.

#4 - Malinda 'Fierce' Eastaughffe has only been sailing the seas for a short amount of time, but has made quite the name for herself in that time. It is hard to not tell others when your ship has been boarded by a female pirate atop a dire wolf. No one has ever seen Malinda without her precious mount Mahigan, and it is likely that no one ever will until one or both are dead. Long before a normal boarding maneuver could be completed Malinda and Mahigan are aboard wreaking unparalleled destruction. A cooped up dire wolf is nothing to mess with, and is more than off putting in a situation that is so foreign to everyone besides Malinda and Mahigan. They often focus their wrath on the captain of the other ship to hopefully cut the head off of the snake and end battles as quickly as possible.

This is the tattoo of a group call the Devil-Sharks. Not much is known about this group due to know one living to tell the tale. If you can spot this flag flying through an eye glass then you are all dead. There are no survivors after this band of pirates find a target. The supplies is taken. The rest is left on the ship they poach is and sunk to the depths of the ocean. Also once you are in this group only way to retire/leave is to die. If you step of the ship for other than attack another ship you will be killed. It is a very hush hush group.

I had forgotten about this one. The following conversation preceded the picture below: Captain Rasayidh: Mages, hah! Those land lubbin', hoity toity cultists may know a thing or two about slinging spells, but what good is magic against an 18 cannon broadside? <cheers from the pirate crew> Captain Rasayidh: Windwitch! Fill our sails, and let us be gone from this blasted island! Sustafa the Air Mage: A moment, Captain! First mate Dubahmed tells me the men cut down a few initiates as they tried to escape with a strange chest. Here it is. <he gesture behind him, as Dubahmed and two pirates bring forth a large, barnacle encrusted chest> Allow me to inspect it. Captain Rasayidh: Aye, let us have a glimpse at some of our loot, lads! <Sustafa breaks the arcane lock on the chest handily, and slowly opens the lid. His face goes slack, and he murmurs something.> Captain Rasayidh: Well?! What is it, Windwitch, I can't hear you! <Sustafa stammers something unintelligible and back pedals, a terrified look on his face> Firstmate Dubahmed: 'ey Captain, I think he said "egg of koo-thoo-loo" or somethin'. What's that?
