Here is a fun spell failure chart I found the other night. Came in handy for DM Mitch's drunk wizard who was thing to cast spells! Let's just say hiccuping sheep were involved! www.angelfire.com/jazz/lorenvale/failure.htm

I always love spell failure! oh the possibilities! I wonder tho do any of you DM's out there use wild magic zones? If not Ill post more on the subject later but essentially unstable portions of the weave.

My PCs are currently in a wild magic zone. Every time they cast a spell, I have them roll percentile dice and read off the Sorcerer Wild Magic effects table in the 5e PHB. Its been super fun and thrown everyone for a loop. The cleric tried to heal an almost dead friend; the wild magic he rolled was to simultaneously cast magic missile at 10th level. Ouch! Death saves were rolled...
I considered having them roll for a chance of a magic effect, but they area they are in is charged heavily with wild fey magic, so I'm making them roll on every spell.

I have not...but I am going to now. After how much fun we had last session, which will be in an upcoming episode, I want to do even more with the spell chart from above. Such fun and it involved hiccuping sheep. Not even sure if sheep can hiccup.

I love to use the "Weave" concept and kind of base its stability on where it is in relation to the poles with more wild zones closer to the equator not all of which produce random results some amplify all magical effects and others might nullify all use of magic. some of these zones can be particular to the type of magic altho i mostly leave divine magic alone being that in my world its granted by two particular gods. and zones can vary between hundreds of miles to 10-20 feet. this allows me to some time use this feature to just affect small portions of one specific battle. and honestly if i can find an excuse to use any kind of random effect chart well... *sinister grin*
