Hey guys, I thought it would be fun to transfer some of the ranged weapons from other games into 5e, since the options for magical ranged weapons are somewhat lacking in the DMG. Feel free to add to the list . Some of them are clearly overpowered though, so be careful if you are using them (looking at you, Vayne).
Change Log:
-Added "overdraw" to Dragonslayer Greatbow and Alonne Greatbow to compensate for lost damage of extra attacks.
-Changed Bow of the Frost Queen attunement requirements to human to better reflect its lore.
Dragonslayer Greatbow (Dark Souls)
Long bow, legendary (requires attunement to a humanoid size medium or above with a strength score of at least 18)
2d10 piercing damage, ammunition (range 300/1200), heavy, two-handed, loading, finesse
This legendary long bow hails from an unnamed hero of giants. It is said to be used to down ancient dragons soaring far above the clouds. The bow’s immense size and destructive power make it impossible to wield save for those with inhuman strength.
Properties:
You gain a +5 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you hit a creature with this bow, it must succeed on a DC15 constitution saving throw or be stunned till the end of your next turn. If it has a flying speed, its flying speed is also reduced to 0 until after a short or long rest.
This bow requires 1 action to load and 1 action to fire. If you use an action to load this weapon, your movement speed is reduced to 0 until the end of your next turn.
Overdraw: On a successful hit, you deal an extra 1d10 damage for each attack you can make in your attack action.
Alonne Greatbow (Dark Souls 2)
Long bow, very rare
2d8 piercing damage, ammunition (range 200/1000), heavy, two handed, loading, finesse
A large bow used by the knights of a distant, long-forgotten kingdom. Each draw of its string requires a great deal time, leaving its wielder vulnerable.
Properties:
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you hit a creature with this bow, it must succeed on a DC13 constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn.
This bow requires 1 action to load and 1 action to fire. If you use an action to load this weapon, your movement speed is reduced to 0 until the end of your next turn.
Overdraw: On a successful hit, you deal an extra 1d8 damage for each attack you can make in your attack action.
Nighthunter’s Crossbow (League of Legends)
Hand crossbow, very rare (requires attunement to a good-aligned creature)
1d6 piercing damage, ammunition (range 30/120), light
This repeating crossbow fires bolts at terrifying speeds. Used by a holy warrior of the light to purge creatures of darkness, it strikes fear into the hearts of evil-doers.
Properties:
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. Every third successful attack on the same target deals an extra 2d6 radiant damage.
Final Hour (League of Legends)
Heavy crossbow, legendary (requires attunement to a good-aligned creature)
This large repeating crossbow is jeweled with rubies and enchanted with holy water to smite the forces of evil. Each of its heavy bolts carries the vengeance of slain innocents.
1d10 piercing damage, ammunition (range 100/400), heavy, two handed
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
You can use a bonus action to enter an epic confrontation for 1 minute. In doing so, every third successful attack on the same target will deal an extra 3d6 radiant damage. If this extra damage is dealt, you are also invisible until the end of your next turn. You cannot use this property again until the next sunset.
Condemn – You make one range attack with this weapon as a bonus action. The target must succeed on a DC15 saving throw or be knocked back 10 feet. If it fails the saving throw by 5 or more, it is also stunned for 1d4 turns. You cannot use this property again until after a short or long rest.
