My first thought was "Amazing!"
My second thought was "Where does he store it all?"
My third thought was "If he can afford to build something like that, he probably has a big enough place to store it."

I have to say I'm torn between admiration and mad-jealousy. It sure would be fun to play through though!

Q. I can't even begin to think about how much work/money this took Q. Where does he store it all? I have a back room dedicated to gaming. There is much more than displayed here. Q. If he can afford to build something like that, he probably has a big enough place to store it. This image shows the shelves in the back of my gaming room. It's large enough currently to store everything. Going to need to adjust that once I finish the modular castle... 4.bp.blogspot.com/-lbGjQIN0Crs/VpMJNF8ST2I/AAAAAAAABwQ/ueXiyMemQSk/s1600/3.jpgThe Tomb of Horrors build really only took me 3-4 months once i decided to do it. Keeping in mind that its a completely modular setup so I was able to utilise alot of pieces that I already had. I really just needed to build the custom pieces which did end up being an awful lot of extra pieces. I could have reduced the build by re-using corridor pieces etc as the party progressed, unfortunately my brain wouldn't accept that so I ended up building the entire thing. It fits out over 4 trestle tables. If you were to ask my wife she would argue that I can't afford it lol. It's really not that expensive once you have a few Hirst molds. The outlay hurt initially but now I just need to keep stocked up with Hydrastone which isn't really that expensive. The largest cost comes from mold addiction. I just love getting more molds, some of which i have used very little but it certainly helps to make the dungeons looks better. The daemon face was one of the more time costly pieces as I molded that from scratch with green-stuff, made a mold of it and can now cast it. So by the time you consider greenstuff, molding tool, silicon and time if was really quite an expensive (though completely necessary) piece. The largest cost is time. Below is a link showing everything i made in 2015 (i only started doing this in March 2015). I managed to pump out enough to keep my gaming table looking pretty for many years to come and as it was all designed to be modular the gaming table will also be different every time we play. Even the Tomb of Horrors is completely modular with the rest of my setup. downunderdm.blogspot.com.au/2016/01/overview-of-progress-in-2015.htmlWe have the next game scheduled this Sunday so keep your eyes on the blog if you are interested in seeing the whole dungeon. There's quite a few photos ready to upload however I didn't want to spoil if for my players. Daplunk

Absolutely stunning. Like you say, with its modular build you are afforded the ability to reuse a lot of what you have. The custom pieces obviously elevate the Tomb of Horrors above and beyond, and I love that you are referencing the old school version (S1-4: Dungeons of Dread (1e)) I was wondering what version of the rules you are leveraging to do so, and hope to hear some OSR goodness, haha. I also would love to hear about how you found my original post. I will definitely keep watching your blog to see what craziness comes up next!

Finding you is easy the blog keeps track of where all the hits are coming from. Made 30k+ hits the first time I put photots of it up and I have been using it to see where all the D&D players are globally and where people are talking about it. Modular is definitely the way to go. These pieces will see alot of table time as a result. I really hate building amazing terrain and then having it sit on the shelf. I'm currently building a modular castle and a larger ship. Toying with the idea of Castle Ravenloft but also waiting to see what the group want to play next which will influence what i build. The OSR version was hilarious I didn't even attempt to convert it which is simple given it really had limited monsters in it.
