So, had this idea today of a small shack in a large city and above it there is a rusty sign that reads Library. (think Rickety old shack in a bad part of town) If you open the door it looks like it is empty and contains some old moldy books. However if you step through the door you are taken to a pocket dimension which contains a Massive Library containing lost histories and archives of every sort. But no one seems to be there to maintain the books or anything.
At this point my idea branches off into several thought paths but I'll just mention my two favorites(in no paticular order).
1. It is maintained by small steampunk type robots(like those in the 5E MM) or even Myrr. The adventurers job is to locate the man who created them somewhere deep in the library.
2. Anyone who reads a book in this library is sucked into the story and must finish out the story in order to escape it. It would allow your party to learn some lore and also to (after book 1 is complete) have some input on what they are doing.
Another unrelated idea that I had is less of a campaign idea and more of a session quest especially for low level players.
Okay so one of your party members, all of them, or even an NPC they are fond of is poisoned by(insert campaign relevent enemy here). The think about this poison is that it seems to not have a magical cure or even that when magic is used to remove it the poison just strengthens. The only cure is a special plant or Herb that can only be obtained in a certain place (mountaintop, desert oasis, a certain cave, etc.). I especially like the idea of it being a party member because, firstly it will help sell the villian to them, and secondly because it would effect the parties ability to do some things(maybe the cleric can't heal people because they have been poisoned and the poison suppresses their magic, or the Barbarian can't use rage because the poison causes them to become extremly happy in some way).
