(I'm really bad at figuring out where to put things, so if anyone can think of anywhere better for this thread, feel free to move it)
For a few days now I've been kicking ideas around in my brain for worlds, and also for "The Ultimate Module." And what I mean by that is a fully constructed open-world sandbox style game world featuring a large and highly world map, NPCs, dungeons, etc. suitable for any players of any level. Rich histories, new pantheons, nations, guilds, monsters, encounter tables, ready-to-play storylines...hey, I said it was a crazy ambitious idea. I'm more or less stealing what's been going on in DMnastics lately and cranking it up to 11.
Obviously the only way something like this would ever work is through the power of crowdsourcing. I haven't started any work on this world yet, and I would never consider it "mine" just because I sparked it. It wouldn't even really surprise me if someone out there is already doing this, or something like it. So I'm wondering if anyone would like to embark on this crazy ambitious project with me, and if so, what the best way would be to do it. I'm thinking that the best bet would be to do some kind of wiki or something, but I know nothing about starting and managing wikis.
So, is anyone interested, or this just a terrible idea? Or an idea that's too awesome to actually happen?

I think the dmnastics has one up and somewhat running? but there are a lot of things that would be agreed upon on beforehand I guess?
I mean you're talking about cooperating a world that everyone can use? With same timeline and what the adventurers do?
edit:
actually, that would be kidna cool (the last bit) have a party see the stuff that happened because of the other party going past. Party A defeated a bandit camp / thieves guild that created a surge of power for other nearby organizations that Party B would have to clean up. etc

The greatest Challenge with having DM's play all the same timeline is the Time that passes in the world you would almost have to make it pass like real time (maybe somewhat slower) I would be interested in attempting such a thing I use the RPG notes app for Android to keep track of my Campaigns if others are interested I've almost finished my Campaign and if we start building a world we could actually do this! If your interested let me know on this thread and we can start building the world together!

World Anvil seems like a good resource for this. Not sure if you can give access to other people or not. You could also start with just a Google Doc or Google Folder with multiple Docs, spreadsheets, and slides. Then build/expand to a different format from there.
