I wrote a backstory but my computer messed up and it was all erased. wompwompwomp.com
So you all get the bullet point version.
- Novice DM, started with Warhammer Quest and moved to AD&D, skipped 3, 3.5, 4th ed and have picked back up on 5e and am absolutely in love with it. - I normally PC, but am DMing out of necessity and am intent on enjoying the hell out of it. - Found the podcast by going into itunes and searching for "Dungeon Master". Out of all the DM based podcasts, this has been my favorite (sans the LoL episodes - but I think LoL is a boring game with mediocre lore. However the episodes with the guys from Tribality were awesome and I loved hearing their really in depth knowledge about building games. Whoever knew an underwater game could sound that fun?)
A bit about me: - I am 5'8, but I tell people I'm 5'10. - I prefer egg sandwiches to cereal for breakfast. - I grew up in SLC, UT and was rather biased against religion for a while because of it, but I calmed down and am now pretty accepting of everyone. - I am a digital product designer for my day job at a beer start up. (we make homebrewer beers at nanobreweries and mail them out to members of our beer club) - I enjoy hiking - My MMO resume would make most people cry. I had problem but I got better. - Rogue-likes are my favorite type of computer game, with an honorable mention to legend of grimrock and classic D&D Dungeon crawl games. - Buzzfeed says that my disney princess would be pocahontas.
Was nice to say hello. Hello.

Welcome to the forums lekai! Legend of Grimrock is a modern take on a classic game style; I loved it! There was a game I had on my old Mac Classic...that style but all pixelated black and white...can't remember the name! I've also really enjoyed The Quest for iOS. Again, similar style, but single protagonist (no party) and very boilerplate graphics. Still fun though!
I think you made the right move migrating from AD&D to 5e. 3.5 was good and fun, but 5e captures that old-school flavor unlike any other edition.

So glad the podcast has been helpful and enjoyable to you.
Just a few thoughts.... -egg sandwiches are awesome. -that sounds like a sweet job. (I know 2 podcasters who love some good home-brewed beer) -pochahontas is a total druid and druids are sweet.

Welcome, welcome! I hope to steal your ideas in the future (it ends up happening sooner or later and if you don't mind). -I certainly do the same thing when it comes to height, I'm 6' , but I tell everyone I am 5'11" -I love hiking as well! - Pocahantus is pretty awesome (I am not sure if she counts as a 'princess'). Sleeping Beauty was my Disney Princess (what does that say about my exercise routine?).
Glad you could join us on these truly remarkable forums...

Welcome to the Block Party! I don't know if we have a name for forum members/fans of the show, but I personally vote for Blockheads because it is hilarious to me and makes me think of the Gumby Show. I agree that it sounds like you have an awesome job. If your like rogue-like type games you should give Darkest Dungeon a try because it is amazing. I would love to see your MMO resume and would like cry tears of joy. I have stuck with WoW with others on the side, and my /played is ridiculous.
As is my civic duty here at the Block Party, you should go check out the DM Nastics that have been posted as they will really help give a good look at how some of us go about making/building things. Also, you should try your hand at it as well to keep your DM mind sharp!

Welcome Lekai. What is this hiking thing of which you speak? Me and my nerd clan have word the word before, used among Those Who Witness the Sun, but do not understand.

Thanks for the responses, peoples! Legend of Grimrock is awesome, as it reminds me of the Wizardry days and Crusaders of the Dark Savant in particular. I'll check out The Quest as I'm really big into innovative mobile games: Sword & Sworcery EP, Monument valley, year walk, etc. - Just no farmville or Game of war (please stop advertising, seriously) And yeah, 5e is great with the emphasis they put on removing rules and drawing people to default with more story-driven play, while still keeping the core of the game intact. I checked out Pathfinder and they have a rule for everything, it's crazy. The beer is www.noblebrewerbeer.com and if you're interested I can give a discount on it, assuming we're able to ship to your location. Our next batch is going out in June and features a really good coffee stout, an IPA, and a porter. It's not technically home-brew as we partner with local nano breweries to produce it as our license as a vendor won't allow us to actually brew it - but we source from home-brew recipes and do a cool little feature on the people behind the beer, in addition to shipping out our boxes with the story cards I recently finished designing. Pocahontas was a weird result, but then again, online surveys are painfully easy to game. "If you were a class in D&D, what weapon would you use?" Pretty much spells the answer for the quiz right there. Please, steal all the ideas possible. Good DM's borrow, great ones just steal and rename everything. haha Darkest dungeon was awesome and I recently repurchased Rogue legacy on my xbox one because of how much I loved that game. Honorable mentions for the binding of Isaac, although rebirth kind of nerfed the difficulty of that game. I left WoW during the beta for WoTLK after leading an old world raid on Argent Dawn, working in a progression raid that was on Sunwell and hitting an arena team of 1975. I had each complete set from 0 - 6, did the hunter bow demon quests, AQ40 scarab lord quests and pretty much every other quest on alliance side, ran about halfway through the original release of Naxx, had every leather working pattern in the game up to that point, was one of the first 50 on my server with a Netherdrake mount, had almost maxed all my factions including dark iron and the Winterfall ones for the saber mount, and was one of two people on my server with a Corrupted Ashbringer. Then I quit because I wanted to do things that didn't require selling my soul to WoW. I think when I quit I had 450 days /played in 2008. (Images attached) Sides, tabletop is better in the long run - much more open.

For WoW, you were on the way out as I was on the way in. Was Guild Master/Raid Leader throughout Wrath. Moved to just raiding through Cataclysm and part of Mists of Pandaria, so I could move to harder difficulties and only worry about myself instead of an entire raid, haha. Much more casual these days, and love the mentality of just getting in, doing when I want, and get back out. Pretty much all things Blizzard have me hooked. Been to six Blizzcons and have my ticket for my seventh, and have played Overwatch and it is really solid. Those jerks are going to have six different games I want to play all the time, haha. I agree that the tabletop will always trump the computer game in my mind.
