A great place to post ideas and meet other DM's who use FG as their virtual tabletop. Post away.

Hello hawk, welcome to the forums!
I don't know if you've seen the Fantasy Grounds thread over in the DM Resources forum, but I for one would love to hear your experiences with it. I've read a few negative reviews and heard a lot of negative press about it. It would be great to hear the positives as well. Would you be willing to lay out what you like about FG, either here in your thread or over in the existing thread? I think a comparison to Roll20 (if you've used it) would be interesting to folks as well.
Again, welcome to the forums, so good to see so many voices chiming in lately!

friartook, Thanks for taking the time to reach out! It is fun to be part of the community. I originally took to Fantasy Grounds (FG) as a way to connect with my son who is a deployed Soldier. From the time he was a wee lad, we have had a blast playing analogue 2e campaigns. He grew older, became a real warrior and moved out on his own. I am a vet as well. You can say I am a true multi-class warrior bard. We communicated via Steam; FG was available there; so logic led me to check it out. I heard how cool the graphics were. We now enjoy the fully customizable dice rolling capabilities, map functions, and drag and drop story telling. WoTC is now partnered with them so content seems to be exploding on to the scene. I can run existing modules or use that content for sandbox, create my own stuff or both. A negative may be the cost. I have the means and own the ultimate licence, so my players join for free. The cost is minimal. I do have some limited i experience with Roll20, so I can make a few comments in comparison. The interface seemed friendly and it's free. Support it if that makes sense for you. The bottom line is that I now have a platform where I can introduce new players to the iconic game we all love. I run a 5e adventure league campaign where my players from literally all over the world come together in good fun. Use Roll20... use FG... sit at a picnic table this summer and just play and enjoy the brotherhood / sisterhood. Huzzah!
