Time to look at some pictures and find a combination of the thousands words they’re worth and some of the things a picture cannot tell. This time, rorrik and I thought we should talk about Storm Giants and some of the legends that might surround them in Dayeimbe, as inspired by Chris Thompson and Rahh Real Monsters XI. Let the questions below be your guide: 1. Who is this Storm Giant? 2. Where do they live? 3. What legends exist about the giant? 4. What truth is there to the legends? 5. What wild falsehoods are common? 6. Anything else? A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. I. J. K. As always if you find another image that you think fits please pots it and go off!!

Who is the Storm Giant? Ursa Thorn
The fate-breaker, the butcher of Angor, The Valley King
Where do they live? Jormungandr River Valley in the ruined city of Angor. He makes sure that nothing enters alive.
Centuries ago he saw a vision of the end of the world when a terrible serpent awakes in the Jormungandr River valley. He fights against fate by denying anyone entry into the valley.
What legends exist about the giant? When he came to the valley, there was a rich city of gold and iron. He knew it was likely that it would be one of them that would awaken the serpent just due to proximity, so he butchered the city of Angor.
Angor is an empty city of treasure just waiting for someone brave enough to take it.
Those that delve into the mysterious giant’s past know that he is fighting fate in some way.
There are also rumors that he can bend the fates of those who oppose him.
What wild falsehoods are common? Those that know of the city believe he did it for the gold and iron.
The rumors of Ursa Thorn fighting fate make it out to believe that he is fighting his own fate and doom. The story is that he fears his own end so he grabbed his treasure and went hiding in a ravine.
Anything else?
Ursa Thorn is like a regular storm giant with the following changes.
AC 19 (plate)
Fate Breaker: as a reaction he can impose disadvantage on any roll a Target makes within 30 feet.
Thunder hammer: functions just like the great sword attack, but the damage type changes to bludgeoning and deals an additional 2d8 thunder damage.
The Challenge rating increases to 14.

1. Who is this Storm Giant?Sturm Dahl, Inquisitor of the First Gods 2. Where do they live?Sturm Dahl wanders the Alithian Approach 3. What legends exist about the giant?Sturm Dahl was half again as tall as even the most statuesque of his kind. He could pluck a dragon out of the sky with an outstretched hand. The first to unite the disparate giant clans, many feared his monstrous size and a short temper but it was his intelligence that nearly brought the world to ruin. Angered by the insolence of the fledgling humanoid races, Sturm began a war of conquest to unite them all in proper reverence. Many nations fell to his armies but in the end, he was defeated. He was eventually buried in a distant mountain. 4. What truth is there to the legends? The war was not intentional. Sturm and his storm giants had been fighting forces from far-flung realms intent on conquering the world. The first group of humanoids Sturm attempted to treaty with became aggressive and after a pitched battle, they fled telling the tale of barbarous Storm Giants. 5. What wild falsehoods are common?- Sturm led giants feasted on the flesh of mortal beings.
- Sturm was buried with numerous magical artifacts he had grafted into his flesh.
- A giant worshipping cult raised him as gargantuan mountain golem.
6. Anything else?Sturms noble spirit and desire to protect the realm animated a mountain-sized golem that patrols the Alithian Approach always on the lookout for encroachment from other planes.

Who is this Storm Giant?Cataegis, "The Mountain" Where do they live?At the top of the mountain, Cataegis, far above the cloud line. Overlooking an ancient, human settlement, known as Aerem (city in my homebrew). The town is still inhabited to this day. Aerem supposedly houses a portal to the Plane of Air. What legends exist about the giant? To most, Cataegis is a myth. Earliest claims of her existence are found in old texts, kept safely in Aerem. Some of these texts date back at least 750 years. Far too old to be a living storm giant, or any giant for that matter. According to these texts, Cataegis watches over Aerem. It is said that in return for the safe passage of her "clan" (fleeing persecution of another clan), Cataegis had agreed to stay behind and protect the portal in the case of an attack on the village. Fortunately, the village has gone quietly unnoticed for nearly a millennia. What truth is there to the legends?Cataegis sought refuge in this village of humans approximately 800 years ago, in return, the resident wizard asked that the giant stay watching over the village in case of an attack. Cataegis agreed. What wild falsehoods are common? It was actually her young family, not a clan, that caused her to seek help in Aerem. Her child had come across a cursed object and fell ill. She went to the wizard, who was able to lift the curse. In return, Cataegis left her family behind, indebted to the wizard. This story has been abandoned as a myth, since no storm giant has been known to live 800 years. The wizard had discovered some temporal stasis magic, which he cast on the giant. Because of this, she does not age. Anything else? The wizard attached a clause to the stasis spell. If the city is ever under attack, she will awaken and defend the town and the portal. This clause went down in the town lore as a prophecy which today, few people believe. Along the outcropping of the mountain, there appears to be a face. Locals call this "The Face of Cataegis." Because she has become a part of the mountain, her skin has become almost stone-like, with patches of greenery. With time, she looks less and less like a giant, and more and more like an animated piece of the mountain.

1. Who is this Storm Giant? Gandora, The mad Tempest 2. Where do they live? Gandora resides on Pinnacle Island, an almost dead island with an impossibly tall spire that rockets from the center of it off the west Coast of Dayeimbe 3. What legends exist about the giant? That this giant rules over the sky and seas from the top of his spire. When a hurricane or cyclone ravages the coast, it is believed to be Gandora sending a message. A message to remind the people who truly rules the highest peak to the lowest trench. A crown adorns this mad ruler. Long sharp blades affixed to his head and burrowed into his skull, a symbol that his reign is true and grants him the gift of foresight, allowing him to bring his wrath down before an incursion can occur. Some stories talk about that Gandora seeks an heir and children who stay out on stormy nights may get snatched up in his storm and never heard from again. 4. What truth is there to the legends? The giant does sit upon a throne on the top of Pinnacle's Spire, a bladed crown adorns his head. He does create storms to wreak havoc on the land but where they land even he is not sure. 5. What wild falsehoods are common? Well Gandora is certainly not out looking for an heir and his attacks on the coast are random at best. 6. Anything else? The power of the Gandora is not his own. Gandora was once an adventurer names Molky who, with his team of adventurers, slew the former Gandora. Molky claim the crown for himself as a trophy and placed it upon his head. the crown's blades began to burrow into his head and Molky began to transform into a Storm Giant. The Crown's influence warped Molky into the new Gandora and betrayed his friends, killing them. The crown had found a new host. Molky's last thoughts that were his own, were the horror of watching the former Gandora revert into that of a small halfling. The cycle continued.

E. 1. Who is this Storm Giant? Kultikal ("The First and the Last") among the giants, and Garalak ("Oathbreaker") by the others who only know of his legend.
2. Where do they live? Kultikal lives on a floating island, an ancient construct of powerful magic crafted in ancient times by the storm giants as a central gathering place for their people in times of need.
3. What legends exist about the giant? The giant known as Garalak is a fearsome creature, a massive undead storm giant who carved an enormous castle out of a mountainside to protect the treasures that the storm giants found in the course of their lives that were too important to keep in their own homes, either because of their value or the danger of owning them. Once he had a sizeable pool of fantastic and valuable things, and the storm giants were in decline as a race, the giant who became known as Garalak performed a spell and raised the castle into the sky before sealing the massive doors of the castle with himself inside, ensuring that no one could get at the treasures. Furious, the remaining storm giants used all of the power they could gather to put a curse on the one who stole from them, proclaiming him Oathbreaker and cursing him to live forever as a mindless beast, unable to appreciate the things he had taken.
4. What truth is there to the legends? The giant did build a castle out of the mountains and raise it up into the air, but that is about the only part of the legend that is true. Kultikal is king of the storm giants, and the floating castle he guards is the burial palace of his race. When a storm giant feels it is coming to the end of his or her life, they use ancient magic to alert Kultikal, who brings the island to them that their bones may rest with the rest of their people. He is undead, but he is not mindless. Indeed, he is the wisest of the storm giants. He can only die when all other storm giants are dead and their remains safely interred in the great crypt.
5. What wild falsehoods are common? The whole legend of Garalak is wildly false.
6. Anything else? Kutikal is willing to talk to guests who are able to reach his floating island, and knows a great deal about historic events and some about modern ones as well (he talks to the dying until their time comes, updating his knowledge as he can). He demands respect, and will not tolerate any attempt to enter the crypt, but he would be willing to trade information, particularly from his vast store of ancient knowledge in return for current events.

1. Who is this Storm Giant?
Vitsmýri The Mad, Lord of the Fen.
2. Where do they live?
Often called the "marshes of madness," Vitsmýri lives in the Vansinne Fen, an ancient marsh that is haunted by the many mad spirits that have drowned or been slain in the swamp's murky waters. Ghouls, ghosts, and will o' wisps are among the hazards that the fen houses. The most prevelant and dangerous feature of the fen is that the few who are brave enough - or foolish enough - to travel through it often lose their minds as they travel, to the point of total insanity in the worst cases. The effects usually fade after leaving, but those who go completely insane often find their condition irreversible.
3. What legends exist about the giant?
It is said by the locals that Vitsmýri was an insane Giant who believed he was enlightened through his insanity. They say he was the one who cursed the fen with his madness, and that all who enter it will slowly become insane like him. In addition, he is extremely dangerous, and will smite all who cross his path with bolts of searing lightning. "If you see the Giant wandering the swamps, stay away! He hates those who are not 'enlightened,' and will slay you without any hesitation!" -Common Local Warning.
4. What truth is there to the legends?
Some, Vitsmýri was not the one who cursed the fen, however. He came to the swamp originally as a sane individual who was greatly intrigued by the swamp's maddening properties. Unfortunately, he spent too much time studying the marshes and succumbed to the insanity that has taken so many others. He now wanders the fen as an insane storm giant, killing all in his path out of fear or hunger.
5. What wild falsehoods are common?
Other than the Giant's origin story, not much. Vitsmýri is very dangerous, will probably attack travelers on sight, and is insane.
6. Anything else?
In one of his many fits of madness, Vitsmýri has long since abandonded his armor and greatsword, and instead wears tattered rags and carries around an old tree trunk he uses as a club. His AC is 13, and his greatsword ttack is replaced by a greatclub attack, which is statistically the same, except it deal bludgeoning damage instead.

Let's go with Picture E
1. Who is this Storm Giant? Xunir, The Deep Giant, The Undying Tower
2. Where do they live? They live in a hole that goes straight down underneath a fallen dwarven city. The whole was made by a great drill used from the underdark by the Duergar to raid the dwarven city's vault.
3. What legends exist about the giant? He an undying god from shadowfell. If you come across the sent of death as the groud trembles, your time has come. He stays alive by eating mortals, before he escapes to his keep. If you can make into the keep, through his army of undead, the second you open his vault, your destiny will halt, for no one has came back out.
4. What truth is there to the legends? He is, in a way in the fort, but is instead secluded at the bottom of the pit, and if you do hear him coming, chances are, he is coming up kill.
5. What wild falsehoods are common? He eats people and he's from Shadowfell. He dosen't feed on people, in fact, his attacks on cities are for revenge and survival. He is also a giant that is native to the marital plane.
6. Anything else? A LOT. Xunir was once a lower ranked storm giant. After adulthood, when he started seeking out seclusion to ponder his thoughts, every destination he reached was occupied, and when it wasn't, a higher ranking storm giant would hear about it and take it over. This continued for years, not being able to find the peace he so desperately seeked, until he finally found a hole in the vault of dwarven ruins. He was finally in peace.... or was he.
His thoughts began to get scattered over 200 years. He couldn't understand why the others would shun him, why he couldn't reside in a place he more desired, a place he could watch the world. He grew angered and crazy. In his rage, he was approached by a ghostly figure, whom offered entirety to out live his brethren, in exchange for some servitude.
In a solid state of mind, he would have never done so, but after centuries of not being able to control his thoughts, he took it, and the ghostly figure, through an ancient ritual turned the giant into a litch!
Almost immediately, his head cleared. The figure turned into a mind flayer. He had been tricked for centuries being manipulated the flayer's hive mind, only to be tricked into slavery. But they underestimated his strength. He busted through the walls the underdark until he found and destroyed the flayers.
But the peace still wasn't found. His solitude began getting investigated by a nearby settlement. He slaughtered the intruders and brought them back to defend his home.
It didn't get invaded often, his peace was only disrupted every 50 to 100 years. When it did, he'd attack their settlements, only to raise another undead army to protect him. He would love to be friendly, to make those understand him, but the hierarchy won't ever forgive him, no matter how much he was deceived, for becoming a litch, so he spends century after century after century, living in regret and shame, and just wants to be left alone for an eternity.

1. Who is this Storm Giant?
Glangskold, The Shield Above
2. Where do they live?
The Mist-top Aerie
3. What legends exist about the giant?
Glangskold was born of the storm, he was born outside in an emergency birth, as he was born he was struck by lightning and assailed by the mighty north winds. The storm imbued him with its power making him as swift as lightning and as strong as a hurricane.
As a child he was able to defeat the mightiest warriors and powerful beasts. He only became more powerful as he grew to adulthood and his abilities were put to the test when he was defending a Seer visiting a human town at the base of the mountain. As the Seer was in conference with elders of the town an ancient red dragon attack. The dragon was in search of the Seer, the Seer had thwarted the dragon on many occasions in his youth. Glangskold told the dragon he could not pass, as the dragon was going to take off he grabbed the dragon's neck with one hand and struck him with his sword in his other hand. The townsfolk looked on in awe as the dragon was defeated. Glangskold left after this to find mightier foe’s to defeat.
4. What truth is there to the legends?
Very little is true in this legend. Glangskold is a real giant born outside during a storm, however he was not struck by lightning. Glangskold was a simple warrior who did protect a well known seer. On one of the Seer’s trips to the lands of the humans he was set upon by a red dragon, it was only an adult dragon not ancient. Glangskold did defeat the dragon by grabbing its tongue in one hand and chopping its head off with the other, but during the battle he lost the use of his left hand and stepped down from protecting the seer.
5. What wild falsehoods are common?
Any story involving Glangskold is epic and grandiose, he has become a superhero to the people who live around the Mist-Top Aerie, giant and small folk alike. New stories are alway popping up and spread throughout the land.
6. Anything else?
Glangskold still lives at the Mist-Top Aerie, he is the Master Smith with a stunted left arm. Most people just think he is named in honor of Glangskold not really him. He doesn't even mention his past, the only sign is the respect that Seer pays to him whenever they meet.

Who is this Storm Giant?
the outlanders call him the Northern Storm, which is what they call the entire region and also a mistranslated; the giants and their kin from the east call him Bly Tadewi, the tall wind. 2. Where do they live?
to the north there is a great mountain jutting out of the sea surrounded by an ever raging storm, the outlanders call this whole region entire region the northern storm and have only glimpsed the island vaguely through the storm on fishing trips and other ventures into the northern seas. Bly Tadewi actually lives in caves carved out inside the mountain before it was moved into the sea. A constant storm fills the sky while whirl pools spontaneously appear. 3. What legends exist about the giant?the outlanders tell stories about how the storm giant was imprisoned there a thousand years before for trying to overthrow the the cloud giants kings the the east. they tell how he is chained to the island, pouring all his power into a storm so strong it will destroy his bonds. the giants and their kin to the east tell stories of how he constantly wages war against the forces of the elemental plane of water pouring from a crack on the ocean floor. 4. What truth is there to the legends?
there once was a tear in the ocean floor in the northern sea, a rift formed during the banishment of a powerful Marid from the elemental plane of water. Bly Tadewi offered his mountain home to cover the tear, which the giants collectively moved over the rift. here he lives in contemplative isolation, each movement causing whirlpools to form on the ocean surface, the storm over head mirroring his inner turmoil over how he will use the knowledge he has gleamed from the ocean depths. 5. What wild falsehoods are common? survivors from ship wrecks tell of how lucky they were a wave swept them away just before his massive hands closed upon them. he grasps at any thing he can, trying to gain some leverage.
some Giants say that Bly Tadewi was actually placed at the entrance to the elemental plane of water to keep the giants in rather then the forces of water out. 6. Anything else?
Bly Tadewi has become the storm and is more connected to it's wind and water then to his body pondering within the underwater caverns.

B. 1. Who is this Storm Giant? Ord Kjarik, Lord of the Father Tree, Protector of the High Forest, Great Light of the Green Sea 2. Where do they live? Ord lives in the canopy of the Father Tree, a simply enormous tree at the top of a lone mountain in the center of the Green Sea. 3. What legends exist about the giant? It is said that the Father Tree is the source of all tree life. Many believe that the bark of the Father Tree possesses the secret to long life, incredible strength, and so on. Due to this widespread belief the adventurous, desperate and infirm make the perilous trek through the dense woods of the Green Sea in search of the mountain known as the High Forest. This forest is the domain of Ord who viciously and selfishly keeps the powers of the Father Tree to himself, consuming all who enter the High Force with his tempestuous wrath. 4. What truth is there to the legends? While it is true that the Father Tree is the source of all tree life within the Green Sea, and its bark does have magical powers, Ord is actually a goodly paladin. He was tasked with protecting the secrets of the Father Tree by Grandfather Sohla'ar, the first of the Dryads in this region. Very few actually make it to the High Forest due to the strong winds, driving rain, and other natural phenomena that Ord utilizes to misdirect, turn back, or otherwise waylay anyone seeking his mountain home. 5. What wild falsehoods are common? Ord is not selfishly keeping the powers of Father Tree, though he does utilize it's powers of longevity to prolong his post as the protector of the High Forest. His wrath is only unleashed on those who wish harm to the Green Sea and the heart of its life-force, such as bands of orcs and trolls who prey upon the woods and it's inhabitants. 6. Anything else? Being a LG Paladin, the Great Light of the Green Sea often illuminates the forest with divine electricity, pruning the forest and showing his devotion to his cause in an impressive display of light and power. This event is what gave the Green Sea its name, as the waves of electricity coursing through the trees cause the foliage to glow green and sway like an emerald tide in the winds of Ord's dutiful ritual.

Storm Giant E. Who is this Storm Giant? Partent Dawnlfist, the Storm Giant monk. Partent was a simple smith who forged horseshoes for his farming friends and swords for the town guard. However, when his home was threatened by a red dragon, his masterwork sword that he had save for for years was shattered by the dragons claws with a single attack. Losing the battle, he swore to never again rely on a simple length of steel. He journeyed far to the Iceclaw mountains, learning a form of martial arts that honed both his body and his mind into a lean combat machine. After training for twenty years with the monks of the Iceclaw monastery, he achieved the title of Grand Master and journeyed to reclaim his home. Arriving back to his village, he discovered that the Dragon had enslaved his people and spread a reign of terror. He faced the dragon in battle, and after a fierce battle that raged for three days, he finally dealt the dragon a blow that ripped its head from its shoulders just as the light of day touched his face, warning the name Dawnfist. He then began began the Monastery of the Fists of Dawn , teaching his own martial art called the Way of the Dawnfist. Soon, he had trained a new master and left in a quest to find a foe that could finally challenge him.
Where does he live? Partent currently has no permanent home, finding a place to stay in a farmers barn or, more commonly, sleeping in caves.
What legends exist about the Giant? There are many legends about Partent, but most laymen have heard of either his origin ( see above ) or his thousand league sprint. Shortly after Partent left the Iceclaw Monastery on his way to slay the dragon, he decided that after waiting twenty years, he needed to defeat the beast as quickly as possible. As he ran, he began to move faster and faster until he was covering entire hills with a single leap. He managed to make a journey that had originally had taken him two years, a journey that led him across the continent, in five days.
What truth is there in the legends? Partent is a solitary person, so many people’s only contact with him is the sight of a solitary figure unburdened by any possessions other than the clothes on his back sprinting through the world on his quest for a challenge.
What wild falsehoods are common? The most common falsehood about Partent is that he is a standard giant who doesn’t care about the “small folk” and will crush anything in his path. Despite his vast power, Partent is quite literally a gentle giant, and he cares very much about leaving things better than he found them.
Anything else? To make Partents stats, add the key features of the monk class to the Storm Giant stats and remove all of his weapons.
*Quick Edit* Looking at the picture, I decided not to focus on the fact that the giant looked undead-ish and rather the fact that he was not wearing any weapons or armor

Picture A
1. Who is this Storm Giant? Uriakor, the Great Wind Born a runt no larger than a mule, Uriakor grew slowly and steadily into a fearsome storm giant. A fervent believer and follower of the giant deity Largött, Uriakor acts as he believes his god commands. If Largött does not truly speak to Uriakor, it matters not. Uriakor still hears him. Largött is a fearsome god, possessed of a furious temper and a deep disdain for those not numbered among his followers.
Largött promised his followers a land of "sun and honey" one day after their troubles were through. Uriakor believes that his job is to go out and find this land, looking for signs that Largött has left it for his people. These signs will be etched upon the bedrock, so that only the truly committed may find them. So Uriakor searches for places that seem to match the descriptions of their homeland-to-be, and then tears apart the ground to look for holy signs.
If smaller, lesser races happen to be living there when he begins his search, what of it?
2. Where do they live? Uriakor has no home. He refuses to rest or hang his cloak until he finds his people's homeland. Even if that means he will wander for all eternity.
3. What legends exist about the giant? a. Uriakor once cleared out a valley by redirecting the flow of a mighty river with nothing but his bare hands.
b. Once there were two moons in the sky, stillborn, his mother reached up and plucked it down so that her son would have a heart.
c. He has no home, but whenever he makes camp he has a vast canopy under which he has a four post bed, furniture, and a workshop where he mends his tools and weapons.
d. He bears no weapon; instead he carries the glamthaa which becomes whatever he commands.
e. He once got into an eating contest with a demon lord. They sat beside twin mountains and gobbled them down. Uriakor won, and finished the demon's mountain when he couldn't continue.
f. He has a glass eye the size of a large boulder. He lost it once and stamped his foot hard enough to send the nearby hills into the air. While flying through the air, he saw his eye had rolled under a hill. When the hills landed again, they were jumbled up and ten feet shorter.
4. What truth is there to the legends? a. Uriakor did redirect a river once, but he spent a few weeks prepping a massive avalanche of rock that did the job.
b. He was very sick when he was born, and his parents kept him in an oven to keep him warm as he grew out of infancy.
c. This is basically true.
d. Not entirely true. The glamthaa is kind of like a configurable staff. He has some fittings he can use with it for different purposes.
e. While his appetite is amazing, this isn't really true at all.
f. He has a lazy eye, not a glass eye. He will often wear an eyepatch, because it has trouble focusing and gives him headaches.
5. What wild falsehoods are common? He catches people and puts them into a massive salt shaker he keeps on his belt. He then seasons his food with them.
He fell in love once, but it was with a storm cloud. He chased it for days before losing it across the ocean. Now he travels from place to place trying to find her, and has fits of rage from frustration where he destroys everything for miles in every direction.
He once threw an elephant so hard that it went sailing off the edge of the world and off into the stars.
6. Anything else? He is a meticulous record keeper. He doesn't want to waste precious time checking the same area twice for signs from his god. He's creating a grid on a massive and detailed map that he rolls out every night. He neatly marks through likely areas he has checked with a gigantic X using a stick of charcoal made from a pine tree.
