So! I'm about five sessions into a new campaign, and I've realized that I haven't done enough planning to know where I'm taking things. I wanted to ask some advice from the lovely people here.
I came up with a simple plan for where the campaign would go before session one. First, I decided to make the game Greek-mythology themed, so the players would have familiar lore to work with. Spread throughout the world are a bunch of magical keys that go to Pandora's Box. All of the keys are guarded by powerful monsters/BBEGs. The players will be drawn into stopping a cult, called the Ares Initiative, trying to unlock it.
A quick summary of where we've gone so far. We have Damakos, a tiefling warlock of Demogorgon who grew up alone in the woods; Sant, a high elf rogue who runs a nightclub that's under the thumb of the Ares Initiative; and Aoth, a light cleric of Apollo and a religious scholar. They were all randomly selected, The Lottery style, to be sacrificed to the Labyrinth with a few other people. They successfully navigated the Labyrinth and got most of the people out alive, and also found the first key on the minotaur in the center of the maze. On the boat home, they were approached by one of the other sacrifices, who wanted to hire them to break his forbidden love out of her father's mansion so they could run away together. While doing so, they ran into the Ares Initiative, after the key; and a zombie possessed by someone who claimed to be Damakos's "sibling." They also discovered that Sant's nightclub was being spied on by Ares Initiative men after the key, and persuaded one of the cultist minions to be their double agent.
When we last ended, they were dealing with spies in the nightclub. The spies started a barfight and tried to kill Damakos, and I plan on them trying to commit arson at some point, but nothing yet. As a precaution, the party's had Aoth hide the key in the temple he studies at. He's been trying to get the high priestess to hide it until they can deal with the Ares Initiative.
I do have a few plans for the next few adventures. First up is the spies in the nightclub. The next door grocer, who I've established as a minor character already, is secretly a spy and hides an underground stronghold. That'll come into play. Damakos' sibling with be a cambion son of Demogorgon, and also carries his a key. I haven't decided how to implement him, though, and I don't know what to do with the high priestess, either.
Basically, I have a few short-term plans and plot hooks, but no idea where to take the party beyond that. Could I get some help?
