It's time to have fun with dragons once again! Rather than many much dragons I figured we could work together to build out one big one that could go the way of the BBEG or NPC, or whatever strikes us. Grab one and we can get to making this awesome dragon together!
1. Color. Need not be standard. - The color arsenic which is based around the element arsenic and is a dark gray-blue color - Joatmoniac
a. element tied to coloration
b. physical description of dragon
c. personal temperment - She is charismatic, manipulative and being near her for too long may result in death or worse - cptpipebeard
d. view on other races
2. Class, or tendencies, more magically adept or a killer with claws - Due to her need to spend long months in hybernation, Korthternesj became an accomplished Oneiromancer (Dream Mage). Rather than physical attacks, she prefers to act by manipulating the dreams of others. Sometimes, she does this to call an ally to her aid, but she has also been known to leave false prophecies for her enemies, or even attack them through Astral Projection. - retsamnoegnud
3. Ultimate Goal - Korthternesj was not always an arsenic dragon. Once, she was a beautiful silver dragon who defended the mining town of Starfall. However, an evil dwarf with intentions of taking advantage of Starfall's mines injected her with so much poison that it forced her to undergo a dramatic change into a unique arsenic dragon.
The poison has not killed Korthternesj, but it still flows through her veins and saps her vitality. She must hibernate for anywhere from months to decades at a time to regain enough energy to do much of anything, hence the title of "The Sleeping Queen". She hopes to one day find a cure to her condition, and relies heavily on her 2nd in command to find one. - SouldiamondDM
4. Secondary Goal - Her secondary goal is to see the demise of her former Red Dragon rival Vanithessia that she did battle with long ago to create the crater in which she sleeps. Korthternesj has tormented Vanithessia from afar for so long with her dreams and projections that Vanithessia's scales have dimmed in color, and she has become more pale than red, as if mixed with white. Vanithessia's mind has long descended into Madness from Korthternesj's dream torment of her former rival, and Korthternesj feels that she has fulfilled this goal of hers.
However, Vanithessia and her kin have given rise to a new type of dragon, tainted by Madness like Vanithessia herself.
The inspiration for Vanithessia being she is a Manganese dragon, which Manganese is pink when in solution, and humans exposed to Manganese in real life get a condition termed "Manganese Madness" or "manganism" and they are quick to anger, and quick to offend. And these dragons arose out of Korthternesj's dream manipulations of the Red Dragons descending them into madness. While Korthternesj's domination of Vanithessia seems complete, she encourages the destruction of any of the Manganese Dragons if any of her follows come across them, as they are her draconic enemy second only to finding the dwarf that poisoned her. - DM Exitium
5. Method #1 of achieving the Goals - Korthternesj is manipulative. She keep a wizard specializing in dream magic on hand, and so presumably uses things like subliminal messages, nightmare scare tactics, false religious visions, and hypnosis to keep her enemies away. - SouldiamondDM
6. Method #2 of achieving Goals - She also keeps a small army of children. Never the same child for more than a month or so to keep her from being discovered, but she always keeps a few proxies in town to be called upon as a last resort. Dragon-slaying heroes may have moral issues fighting a horde of children. - SouldiamondDM
7. Name, true name, name used by more common folk - Korthternesj ("Dangerstone" in Draconic), called "The Sleeping Queen" by commoners - Jesse Ross
8. Name of 2nd in command, or friend - Korthternesj's 2nd in command isn't just one individual, but rather a rotating cast of children living in and around Starfall. When she's hibernating, she can project herself into the dreams of those who've not yet tasted the bitterness of loss, and she uses her charm to get them to play "games" with her. Mostly these games are simple information gathering tasks in the service of finding a cure or locating the dwarf who did this to her. In this way, the children become her eyes and ears, allowing her necessary slumbers to still be productive. - Jesse Ross
9. Name of minions, or followers - While children are her main spies, Korthternesj keeps some other hypnotized followers about. When she needs dirty work done, may it be the building of a new room in her lair or the killing of investigative adventurers, local townspeople and beasts are mentally controlled to do her bidding. It's possible that the more frequently mind-controlled have become her cultists, believing to be visited by a deity. - SouldiamondDM
10. Name Fortress or base of operations
11. Location of fortress or base of operations - Korthternesj once lived in a deep crater in the ground caused by a previous battle with a rival. She wanted to make sure no one would find her an assassinate her as she sleeps, so she covered her crater up, turned it into a hill, and built a well on top of it to disguise it. The well, of course, isn't attached to an actual supply of water. It's filled by a decanter of endless water placed at the bottom. - souldiamondDM
12. Description of fortress or base of operations - The inside of the lair is not what one would expect from a dragon's lair. When Korthternesj first carved out her lair, it was basically a hole in the hill, being weakened by the poison. Korthternesj uses proxies during times of being awake to facilitate the renovation of her lair, as a result it has been made into a much more livable place, having an eclectic blend of human, elf, and dwarven architecture throughout the lair. There are many different rooms and traps throughout the lair to protect Korthternesj as she sleeps, there are even a few rooms for her more loyal followers to stay in should she need them. Her treasure room is more maintained than most dragon hordes, as her followers are the ones that gather the gold to fund her pursuits. - sneakyarrow
13. Alignment
14. Physical Description of appearance when not in dragon form (race, clothes, etc) - In humanoid form, our dragon is simply a young high elf child, covered and dirt and abandoned on the streets. They love to use this form to sneak around and gather the intel needed for their master plans. - SouldiamondDM
15. Gender - female
Hope this one makes sense, and really interested to see what awesome dragon we can make together.
