I haven't scrolled this far down the boards yet, but now I have so here is an introduction thread. I've already commented here and there, so apologies in advance for being so verbose. Listening to the podcast, current through September 2015 so far; enjoying muchly. No spoilers please while I do the TimeBandit thing.
Started with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons when I skipped a grade-- it's what all the cool kids were playing. Later on my brother asked me to DM a game for his friends. Showed up with a 2E adventure while they were prepared to play 3E. Don't attempt this. Converted my world & lore to 3.5, then pathfinder, working on 5E now. I may have done a LARP as Radagast the Brown. Real life camouflaging cloaks are a joy to assemble.
I enjoy pulpy action & persistent worlds, real life inspirations & internally consistent fantasy. I made up a map of Faerun in Civilization 3 to play, and have been crafting an economic system for D&D settings ever since. Progress is slow. Side note-- build a map in a Civilization SDK for your game, it's beautiful. Star Trek > Star Wars, Bicycle > Car, Wisconsin > other states, Gnomes > Halflings, and Instinct > Valor/Mystic
FYI - the emblem to my left is James Madison on a riding badger mount. If you disagree, I will fight you.
