I've been running a 5e campaign for over a year now, but only recently decided to end it altogether.
Sadly, my last session has soured me from DMing for a good long while, and while I wanted to end the campaign with a bang, it instead ends with me sending a text message.
Suffice to say, it came down to a breakdown in group dynamic between the players. One continually "roleplayed" his dissaproval of another character until the other guy asked him to stop, which was refused, devolving into name calling and one player storming out of the session.
I decided to finish the session, but after that incident, I just don't have the heart to continue.
This might seem drastic, but I'm no longer enjoying the aspect of DM: I expected more from my table.
A word of advice to other DMs: make sure your players are on the same page!
Now I go back to warhammer.

That super sucks. No other way to say it. I agree that the salient point is that the DM and players need to be on the same page, or at least very similar ones. It is a drastic measure, but when some plaeyrs are running off others it is hard to find any motivation to remain at the table, and even harder to be the one that puts in the most effort and has to try and run things.
Hopefully you get inspired again down the road, but a step back isn't a bad thing. What type of Warhammer are you heading back to?

I'll probably give age of sigmar a try. I've got a slew of models to choose from after all!
As an update to my participation in d&d, I've mulled over my frustrations, and after some reflection must recant my previous post about the hobby, as I'm planning on running Curse of Strahd soon.
My group is meeting for a "session zero" as it were, as our last foray into the mines of madness ended when half the group walked after a not-so-willing sacrifice initiated by a chaotic stupid barbarian.
Some people's psychopaths I tell you.
