A player recently pointed out that there's a piano in one of the modules I ran, and pianos weren't invented on Earth until around the year 1700. They're just a bit too sophisticated for the level of technology I'm imagining, so.... magic to the rescue!
The piano, it was retroactively decided, is in fact a magical item. It doesn't have any magical effect other than being able to produce sounds in a way no other instrument can. Rather than chords and hammers and all that, the interior consists of magic crystals designed to emit a certain sound when their corresponding key is pressed.
Anyone else have some anachronistic items in their world, ones made possible through the use of magic?
