Minecraft has many things in it that have massive story potential. This thread will focus on the Iron Golem.
In minecraft (for those of you who don't know) Iron Golems walk around NPC villages and smash the crap out of anything that hurts the villagers. I decided that I would stat them and talk about alternate methods of creation (because if your pc’s can just melt some railroad ties and put a pumpkin on top to create one of these, that's way too powerful.)
STR: 24 HP:140-200
CON: 20 Ref: -2
DEX: 8 Fort: 16
INT: 5-7 Will: -4*
WIZ: 8
CHA: 6-8
*immune to mind control, charm person, charm monster, ect.
Damage immunities: Suffocation, Poison, Most magic.
Damage resistances: Cutting:50 Peircing:55 Fire: 75 Falling: 25
Vulnerabilities: Rust, Mythril weapons, the tails of rust monsters,.
Attacks: 2 armed smash: +3 5d10+7, If you survive it knocks you back into the air 1d10+3 yards.
1 armed smash: +4 3d8+7, knocks you prone
stomp: (must be prone at it’s feet) 5d20+14 (probalay an instakill)
Speed: 15 feet
CREATION:
In minecraft all you have to do is put a pumpkin on top of some arranged iron to create a golem. I have decided that a more complex method should be required.
In an attempt to break free of the rule of the mind flayers, a rogue group of humans attempted to create a beast that was immune to the effects of mind blast, and was resistant to physical damage. They slowly acquired pieces of iron until they were able to construct the form of an iron golem. They forged runes into the inside that would enable a soul to be connected to the frame, and waited.
When they took people to have their brains eaten by the mind flayers, they took the body of someone who did not become a mindless thrall, and poured their blood over the runes on the inside. The golem Sat up and attempted to speak to his creators, but could not verbally communicate.
After creating 15 golems the humans of this settlement declared war on the mind flayers, and sent out their golems to slay the mind flayers, and oh how they killed them.
Years later the golems were made with the blood of people sentenced to death for murder who requested to have another chance to help humankind. The process of connecting the soul to the body blocks the urge to kill innocent humans, and also removes most memories. All they can feel now is a love for all innocent people, and a burning hate for evil, and anyone or anything that attempts to do innocent people harm. Some aspects of their personalities will stay with the golems. If the person loved music in their life, they will stop to listen to street performers. Other behaviors like this often leak through.
The mind of an iron golem is quite an interesting thing. They will go through phases of acting more and less human as their soul’s power waxes and wanes. They can not easily think logically, but they can sense the presence of evil, and grow very edgy around it. They typically keep their distance from humans.
Because they can not speak, but feel a massive love for people, they will often pick flowers and offer them to people as a sign of affection. Having an iron golem in a small town is a sign of good luck, as they will wander from city to city along major roads. If they can find their birthplace they will often stick around it, and will often visit places they would go in childhood.
