That is some awesome work right there. Love that it establishes a different temperament for the barbarians to be in. Makes you think about how they got there, or if they have just been there. High magic could have transported a huge group of them, or they could have burrowed south over time. Good times all around!

I can totally see these as weapons. Definitely. Sharpened antlers were common historical weapons everywhere people lived near creatures with antlers. Also, imagine using them as a mold for a set of metal weapons, sharpened at the edges and points. It would take some technical know-how to make, but would result in some seriously intimidating weapons when finished. Sort of like two halves of a bat'leth.

Here is a compiled version of the ideas Lou Anders and I tossed around in the latest DM-Nastics:
Clan Name: Stromriders Clan Leader: Harold Blackaxe - It was on the day he slew his jarl with his axe, while he was the right hand man of the jarl, that Harold received the name Blackaxe for the black deed committed. He killed someone he was supposed to be loyal to in an unprovoked and unsanctioned manner. After he was driven out he wandered into the mountains, found a cave, and kept walking into it. He had fully embraced his title of Blackaxe as he now carries at his side a pure black headed axe made of obsidian and magically enchanted to be brutally sharp. It was during his time with the Dökkálfar (dark elves) that he was gifted the weapon because of his strength and determination when fighting against and with them. It is rumored that there are even some Dökkálfar among the ranks of the Stormriders. After his time in the cave he emerged stronger than ever and eventually tamed the Stormbirds, and began drawing to him the strongest warriors. Clan Animal: Stormbird - Scandanavian equivalent of thunderbird. Giant white feathered birds that are large enough to be ridden. Only the greatest warriors can ride the few tamed and trained Stormbirds. The competition is fierce and bloody, and the tribe never grows too large because of this. Clan Symbol: Outstretched white wingspan with two crossed axes across the wingspan. The background is also black so that the only thing needed to make it is white paint on a black field. Or when painting their faces using black paint on white skin. Preferred Weapon: The axe, in all of its wonderful and various forms - throwing, hand, battle, great, etc Preferred Travel Method: Atop of the Stormbirds “you can fly, why are you going to ride something?” Because of this travel method they live atop the tallest mountain in the area, and rely on raiding other tribes that fish and farm where they can not while atop their mountain.

Here's my thoughts on Frosthorn, Stormriders and my own addition -
Frosthorn Tribe – Maybe Jan is trying to gather members, increase his tribe numbers and way of thinking into the world. Perhaps he has one or more of the following goals - • Wants to hunt a great white dragon in the frozen north pole, he will hold a tournament inviting 500 warriors as he needs 100 strong to lead into the great frost. • Sending out his tribal warriors on quests to find great beasts to slay, hunters of all huge or magical beasts. • Maybe there is some enemy of Cernunnos out there, like a roman empire or city of golems, something huge that is the enemy of Cernunnos wild nature aspect. So Jan needs to gather 10,000 warriors so he or his descendants can take them out in Cernunnos name.
Stormriders Tribe – • Drow showed Blackaxe how to tame animals with magic (so they could create chaos in the surface world). • Stormrider tribe use a large bolas, ball in the centre to grip, ends are two hand axes. • Storm Giants who used to look after the Stormbirds want them back, but they don’t trust Humans due to their ancestors stealing the knowledge of smithing or magic. • Aarocokra fleeing south to warmer forests, away from Stormrider Tribe. This means less food in the southern forests for the Humans and Elves that live there however.
To add to the celtic/cold northlands feel - Black Dogs – Barguest of celtic legend, come out of the mists, could use shadow mastiff or displacer beasts, hit and run, masters of stealth, quality opponents not quantity. These creatures could be very active along coasts or in autumn, sometimes people go missing on those cold mornings. But give them a traditional weakness, such as avoiding iron or silver. These can be used as a common legend/foe for all tribes.
Clan Name: Greytusk Tribe Clan Leader: Surti Clan Animal: Boar Clan Symbol: Boar head with massive tusks on grey background Preferred Weapon: Club (finishing move is always a bite) Preferred Travel Method: Charge Notable Deeds: Many members (inspired slightly by the film 13th Warrior, highly recommended) - Humans and Orks, 20% of the tribe are Half Orks, but the tribesfolk don’t even see Orks and Humans as differently, only some are born strong, and others can be taught to be stronger. - Matriarchal – Males fight for the right to be chosen for breeding. - Weak or Sick are helped for up to 1 year, but if the weakness/sickness is ongoing – fed to the boars. - Mud baths after battle to cleanse the body and spirit. - Eat there fallen enemies to return them to the gods.

This is stupid, but here it is anyway. It's not stupid, it looks like it could have been painted on a wall or a shield by one of the tribes members.

Clan Name: Crannogern Clan Leader: Chaquas Carapace Clan Animal: Giant Crayfish Clan Symbol: red crayfish on field of brown and green Preferred Weapon: Glaive and two-handed flail for close range and atlatls and slings for long range Preferred Travel Method: on a crannog (which is not actually a crannog because it isn't island. It floats on the water) pulled by the giant crayfish Notable Deeds:- Pride of Kord -In their existence, the clan has managed to slay a number of black dragons who attempted to lay nest in ruins of Jagatuje. Their skulls now decorate shrine to Kord.
- Scavengers of Jagatuje ruin -Slatina bog was once home to ancient nation. All that is left of it now is the ruin of Jagatuje and artefacts and art in it. Along with traps and all sorts of danger that the bog presents. Crannogern are the only ones who dare go there.
- Those who tame swamps -Crannogern are only human clan able to withstand the hardship of living in Slatina. Despite many dangers (hostile lizardfolk, crocodiles, swarms of stinging insects and various peculiar beasts) the clan prospers.
Past Warriors of Note:
- Ius the Clever -She was once a clan leader. It was her who started building crannogs instead of small boats, using traps to obtain food and herb emundabitea lutia to purify swamp water of disease and mud.
She also gained respect of land clans when she challenged Bolg the Bold to a duel. He had reach but she had flexibility and the duel ultimately ended a draw. But it was also a beginning of Ius and Bolg as a pair. From their union blossomed a dynasty of fierce independent warriors. - Derego Lizard-Strangler -his grip was so strong he unintentionally broke few wrists when greeting people. Some say as strong as grip of giant crayfish. Once a crocodile attacked him and he strangled it to death (thus he got his name).
- Chaquas Carapace -current leader of Crannogern, he comes of Ius's lineage. He earned his position in a competition of strength of grip. He goes to battle with shield of crayfish carapace and a glaive with shape of crayfish claw. His spirit animal is crayfish (well, bear from the rules viewpoint, but for the sake of badassery...) and he has its tattoo all over his body
-to be edited (by me or you, feel free to expand if you will)-
