I vote globe or infinite plane in all directions. Also, a note going further we should focus in on small parts of this map for worldbuilding. Leave lots of space for along time.

Leave lots of space for along time. easy to also add stuff in afterwards. like this is only a map of the explored world or something. a hidden island that contains a mystical force, except this island moves! *queue lost theme*

Well the decision is easy for me as a geography/cartography nerd. a globe like or "geoid" shape is what works best.
Also if this is just a part of the actual world and is the only portion of the "known" world that works too. Leaves room for expansion both idea wise and game wise.

Yeah, I debated for a really long time on whether or not it should be a world map we decide on or a specific area. Went with world because I figured that would give us more to start with and then we could hone in on an area whenever we want/need to.

Here is an idea: it is not a globe, but an Icosahedron... Close enough to a globe... Right? D20 all the way. I can see interpid yacht racers vying to see who can catch the most air as they propel themselves over the edge between faces! "Here we GOOOOOO!!!"

I just locked the poll because it is fairly evident that 5 is our winner. I didn't realize how restrictive the hosting site was that I placed those images. Here is a dropbox link for the map at a notably larger size (aka 5 times larger.) www.dropbox.com/s/jvqkh89h9kws0c4/Dayeimbe%20World%20Map.png?dl=0Also, I think a globe can be the official shape of the world as well. Also also, there are a couple of icons that aren't overly clear I think. The long line with the dot next to it indicates a desert. The somewhat grass looking icons indicate a swamp area. Castles, ruins/dungeons, circles are cities. We could of course add things, or even take them away if we want to!

The end map won't look exactly like the one that I linked there, but that is merely to say that it won't be a pixel for pixel representation. Instead we are going to have something that looks even more epic that what donjon produces. SUPER excited for the end result, and you should be too!

Yes, that was one of the things I was thinking. the only way I could see that working is using at least two or more Inkarnate maps. What could be interesting would be having the super awesome large world map, and then use Inkarnate for closer up maps of specific areas.

OMG, how did I miss Inkarnate. Awesome time saver for me.
I will volunteer my meager drawing/mapping/Photoshop skills to the mix for anything we need as well. I am already working on a logo for sorts for you guys to check out.

There is actually work already being done to make the world map much better than the donjon map linked before. However, I have an interesting idea that I will be sending your way dmmadmaxi, eek! Private message time!

So, I have been hesitant to jump in and let people know that I'm the one who's working on drawing this world map. But, this weekend I picked up a WACOM tablet... at a garage sale... for $1. !!! I'm so geeked that I couldn't contain myself. I've never worked with one before, but I'm so excited to try it. I expect it will help my mapmaking significantly. I'm gonna send you a pm too, Maxi. I'd love for you do some editing to make sure that the world map is relatively feasible given the way that geography actually works. I'm hoping to have something to show y'all by the end of the week!
