<script id="th-iframe-script" src="chrome-extension://ofdopmlmgifpfkijadehmhjccbefaeec/assets/comms/commsiframe.js"></script>Well it's Week 1 of the Build-A-World series of DM-Nastics! Admittedly curating the information we have already produced is a somewhat daunting task, but one that has been fun nonetheless. I don't have a ton to share just yet in terms of the overall plan of this series, but I'm excited to share and see where it goes soon enough. I have come up with a potential world name for this idea: Dayeimbe. I took the initials DMB and found different written pronunciations for it and spliced them together to create the name. Onwards to this week's DM-Nastics though! I wanted to kick things off with a very broad strokes, and wide open ideas and concepts to help build out more cool things for the world. Thanks to friartook we will be doing so with some awesome pictures. These are all album covers that he or I found and then made sure that the band names and/or album titles were removed so that there is no guidance as to what the picture are depicting. So grab a picture, and go crazy! 100% up to you what it is! {EDIT: The images were broken, and are sadly now gone. Which only means you can bring your own cover to the forum!} There they are in all their crazy, random goodness. Hope you enjoy talking about them as much as I enjoyed finding them!

Awww yeah, Kvelertak ftw. The triplet goddesses of the moon known as the Màni. Often depicted as a giant owl that has the upper body of fair women sticking out of it, though it is also depicted as three women with various bodyparts exchanged with those of owls; one with the head of an owl, one with wings and claws instead of arms, and one with a combination of wings and arms while the feet become talons. The truth of it however is that these three sisters were high-druids of the order of the Moon and ascended into demi-gods who has the owl and the moon as their symbols and are highly revered of all branches of the order of the moon and is seen as a pinnacle of truly being one with nature. They are known in some circles as the mother of Owlbears. Their imagery can often be found amongst druids of the moon, the Illuskan settlements, and Goliaths that venture in the north.

#12 An evil wind blew from the portal. After years of research and several bouts of madness he had done it. The first tentacle-feeler of the great God emerged. "Iä! Iä! Ralgohurust lives!" The living God slithered into our realm of existence. Ralgohurust the unresolved is an extraplanar entity of unknown origins and eternal hate. This entity manipulates people and creates abominations in order to kill the gods and take their place. dungeonsandtulu.wordpress.com/

On a slightly different note I really like the name Dayeimbe. I personally have had a great deal of trouble naming in my world. I think that Dayeimbe sounds like an African word. Perhaps some african legends and traditions could be apart of this world? Also I'm a HUGE fan of Mongolian themed centaurs since the original legend is derived from reports of the Mongolian horde. Also isn't #13 a rider of shemish? dungeonsandtulu.wordpress.com/

#6 (as a joke) *large crowd chanting in unison* ALL HAIL OUR DARK LORD! #Cthulhu4PRES2016!
#9 (This totally reminds me of a favorite cartoon of mine growing up. Pirates of the Dark Water) So here goes *cracks knuckles*. (In best pirate voice) "This be a part of the massive expanse that is known as the Ebonheart ocean. Known for its violent currents and waters, as well as strange fauna and flora. Many'a ship has gone down in these waters, pirates and sailors alike tell too many ghost stories to count about the place. Word has it that a rising captain has found away to navigate these cursed waters. But what'll shake ye soul is the map that this good ole captain carries on 'em! It is rumored this map be markin the last treasure of a grand and ancient empire that was once swallowed by the sea itself. Only to emerge again! The corvette was called the "Maidens Deceit" and the ship was run by captain Blythe Jarlson (Yar-l-son). But to his men he was known as 'Wild Bill'. The crew was so loyal to their captain, that any one of-em would take an arrow for Wild Bill! The same could be said for the captain. The Maidens Deceit is a fast vessel that carries a good bite. It is best that you keep an eye out for-em, and turn tail if you earn her wrath!"
haha...ah man good times. So the nickname Wild Bill actually comes from one of my fathers favorite ship captains. They often referred to the captain and his ship as "Wild Bill and his band of Pirates" because when all the other ships were rolling through the gulf during desert storm/sheild a lot of them had full 'battle-rattle' which meant full combat uniforms underneath their gear. While my dad and his ship would often just don their combat gear (protective gear like body armor and helmets) and walk around in their silkies and boots. Wild Bill also had my dad and his ship use sandbags and other items to fortify certain 'gunning positions'. So you can imagine what that kind of crew and ship would look like next to a bunch of pristine by the book captains and ships. Just thought I'd share some background on the nickname.

4. Archangel Izan, the CondemnedThe 12 Archangels existence came about at the birth of the worlds. They were fairly independent until the much more powerful gods came. Being much more powerful then themselves, they took up the name of Archangels and pledged themselves to the service of the gods, all except Izan. Izan viewed the gods as a threat to the worlds, not as protectors. So instead of pledging himself to them, he declared war against them. Izan convinced 5 other Archangels to try to repel the gods from whence they came, but stood no chance against their power. The rebellious Archangels where annihilated, all except for Izan. For leading the war, he had his very essence ripped from his body and was cursed with an all consuming void for a heart. Now instead of being a protector of the worlds, his very presence would consume souls and condemn them to an eternal suffering. Izan became the Archangel of Death, forever becoming the thing beings fear most. Although broken, he remains one of the strongest of the remaining 7 Archangels. The winged ancients watched over the worlds, As around the chaos swirled, They kept us safe from the darkness's edge, Until the Gods came and they gave their Pledge. Anonymous recounting of the origins of the Archangel's

When I read Dayeimbe, I hear "Daaaayam B!" Doesn't settle well with me. Diyembi, maybe? Anyway... Philanthropist and explorer Giveon Suvaida braved many exotic locations in his search for adventure, but one mystery always tugged at his heart: what lay beyond the Divautic Ocean? Sailors had attempted to cross the vast expanse, but either were rebuffed by the violent storms and waves, or swallowed by them. In his autumn years, Suvaida spent the bulk of his fortune in designing a ship capable of traversing the Divautic -- not by sea, but by air! The fabled Skythresher was the result of his ingenuity and wealth, and disembarked from Port Amertithe on a fateful Spring morning to much fanfare. No one knows precisely what became of Suvaida and the Skythresher. He maintained contact with his homeland by magical means, and according to the historical record, declared spotting land after 39 days. Contact ended immediately thereafter, without any description of the alleged land or a hint as to why his communications ceased. The records had been sealed by order of his king, and remained so for over fifty years, though the recent revolution in that kingdom brought to light this great discovery. The revelation ripples through the imaginations of prospectors, explorers and governments, and numerous agencies conspire to follow Suvaida's lead, despite his unknown fate.

When I read Dayeimbe, I hear "Daaaayam B!" Doesn't settle well with me. Diyembi, maybe? I can definitely see that. I went wit those pronunciations because they didn't directly mimic the written English pronunciations. Instead I combined Anglo-Saxon, Irish, and Old Persian written pronunciations to spice it up a little and have it potentially take a second for someone to recognize what it happening with the name. I don't have much to offer but a name for #2 The Temple of Eh Dey Well played Kjmagle. Well played. Love all of the posts so far!

Wow. These are amazing covers... hard to believe they are even albums (though number 6 reminds me of Bolt Throwers). And I enjoy all of the interpretations. Cool!

11. The Plague Witch: Rumor has it that deep in the swamps of the eastern delta, the Plague Witch makes her home. She draws her power from the slow decay and corruption of life. It is said she was once a powerful priestess and healer, on a path to become head of her order. Weeks before she was to be anointed the High Healer, she met the love of her life; a great hunter, trapper, and woodsman whose charge was defending the borders of the land from the horror that came out of the swamps of the eastern delta. As the High Healer is sworn to never have a lover (she is supposed to love all equally) nor bear children (all the peoples of the world are to be as children to her), the Priestess declined the position of High Healer and left the order to live in happiness with her lover in his home at the edge of the eastern delta. Within months she was pregnant, and all was well for her in life. Until the day her lover returned form a scouting foray with a deadly wound. He had been attacked by a horrid lizard beast of the swamp, and the beast had bitten off one arm and caused many other horrific wounds. The creature's venom caused the wounds to rot and turn green. The former Priestess sought aid in her faith, but she had left her order and not practiced her powers in some time. All her attempts to heal the wounds failed, and her prayers for intervention went unanswered. So, she turned to darker arts. Her schooling and preparation for the post of High Healer had brought her much knowledge of forbidden arts. Secret teachings, in which the healing essence of life is twisted and corrupted. But she was desperate, her lover was dying and there was nothing she could do! So she made a terrible choice. She knew of a ritual through which the life essence of an unborn child could be channeled into a living creature, restoring and revitalizing it. She convinced herself that she had no choice; she would sacrifice her unborn child for the life of her lover. After all, if he lived, they could kindle new life. There would be children. Many, many children, in time. So she performed the ritual in the deep darkness of a moonless night. She felt the life of her unborn child ebb and flow within her; dark phantoms visited the hut, and her belly began to swell. Suddenly, though she was only a few months into her pregnancy, her belly swelled to a fullness that was agony. And the birth pains began. But when her "child" came forth in agony, it was not a single child. Oh no. There were many, many children, and each was a grub or worm or beetle or fly. They gushed forth in a foul stream and swarmed over the body of her love. They burrowed into his wounds and crawled under his skin. He began to twitch, then to spasm. His eyes opened. And they were the black and yellow of dead things. It is said that the Plague Witch and her foul lover live still, deep in the darkness of the delta's swamps. No longer do they seek to defend the kingdom from the beasts and monsters of the swamps. Instead, they, and their many, many children, are the beasts and monsters of the swamp.

Barbarians of Northfell - Northfell Clans - Ragnar's Kin
The Barbarians of Northfell are the men and women that make up the Northfell Tribes of the far north. They live and die in the frozen north, following migrations of great beasts that provide them with everything from food and clothing, to insulating their shelters from the winter storms. They are divided into family Clans that often war between each other. They consider battle to be a the greatest test of a man, and often settle differences with violence from the individual level to the clan level. Their Clan Leaders and Shamans lead the men and women of the Northfell Tribes. The Shamans guide them spiritually for the God* (to be determined) have specialized in weather and tempest magic to help the clans survive, or retreat the the many known caves in the north when great storms are coming. The Clan leaders are the strongest, boldest of the Clan members. Family lineage does not play a part, although Clans won't follow the leaders of other Clans (except in exceptional circumstances) but any clan member can become the new Leader through physical force, displays of strength, or in a contest when the current Clan Leader decides he is no longer fit to lead the Clan (Or would like to live out his days before a challenger would be stronger then he). The women of these tribes are nearly as fierce as the men, and if in a situation where they must fight, have no problem wielding the nearest weapon with deadly efficiency. Once a summer they gather at Ragnar's Hold, to commemorate Ragnar Stormhammer leading them from the Great Blight and into the North, from which all Clan's can trace back to this originating event and all differences are put aside and a week long celebration is had by all Clans together. In the centuries since this migration north from some great threat, most of the history has been lost as to what actually led them there, but many consider them to be an old empire of men, that faced some great calamity and had to leave their lands. For the most part the Northfell Clans rarely venture out of their lands, and despite their warlike nature usually do not threaten the nearest realms, but once in a great while a "Ragnar Reborn" will rise in their ranks and combine all the tribes on war path in honor of some tradition, perceived slight, or the will of their "war god*" * - Insert proper final pantheon match here.
