Finally decided to join the forums, because I ran out of episodes to listen to. I've been playing (sparingly) for a couple years, but haven't really had a consistent game in that time. =( I'm currently DM'ing a game for my brothers and I'm going to DM a one shot at an upcoming camping/TTRPG event near me.
Looking forward to having more conversations with you all!

There is a "Role-playing Guild" in my area and some of the founders enjoy camping. The event started as their personal thing: several friends, camping, hiking, gaming, etc. Eventually, they decided to turn it into a guild event. They rent a couple campsites for the weekend and members of the guild come out and can basically do whatever mix of camping and board/tabletop game trips their trigger. They do have scheduled events, including one-shots (like mine), mini-seminars (like mini-painting, etc), and one year had a demonstration by the "live dungeon" company in the area. This is actually my first year (new to the area), but it sounds like a load of fun. |

Unofficially, it totally works. I'm a youth pastor, and we took a handful of our teens on a campout to play D&D around campfire. We played for 11 hours, pausing to sleep. It...was...awesome...

Just ran my game and they liked it so much, one of the players tried to get me to just DM random encounters, lol. Always good to hear when the players like it. = )
