3. Ihimlucrist: Found in a chest at the bottom of the ocean. This Copper crafted box appears to have been submerged for centuries yet shows no signs of oxidation or corrosion. once properly activated this box acts as a navigation device that leads only to one specific island that never stays in one place for more than a month. Sounds a little bit like lost and jack sparrow combined!

1. Thirst: Found in a desert temple. Within the desert temple you have come across a string of desiccated bodies of adventurers. Eventually you find the body of a wizard who does not appear as dried out at the rest of the bodies. As you search through his belongings you find a scroll with the spell Thirst on it. Touch attack spell that draws the moisture from a creature into the caster. Could have Con save to resist, and levels of exhaustion on a failure.
2. Bear Tooth: Found in a forest. An amulet with a large tooth of its namesake that once attuned can grant the caster bear like teeth and claws. This allows for a natural bite attack and swipe attack. Not sure how long it should grant it for, but think that the person might not be able to properly communicate while active.
3. Ihimlucrist: Found in a chest at the bottom of the ocean. When you find the chest and open it the chest appears to be MUCH deeper than it seemed to be from the outside. After moving the chest it is apparent that it is not a false bottom, but instead is the Ihimlucrist lining the bottom of the chest. It reaches into a small pocket of the Elemental Plan of Water. The players might be able to use it as a source of clean water, or a place for storage, but will have to overcome the fact that whatever was placed inside would be submerged in water.

Thirst: A cup that forces the drinker to continually drink whatever was put in it to be drunk. A legend says that the great Orc chieftain: Zelf 'de Bog drank a fine brew from it once. The poor Orc became so drunk that he bloated and floated off into the arms of the gods. But, some say that he still floats there, waiting to drop belly first, upon an unlucky victim.
Bear Tooth: A rare and mystical tooth that if stabbed into the heart of a live person, grants that person immunity from every sickness except for death. An awkward magician known as Roundulf created it for his dying sister. After stabbing her repeatedly through the heart she died and never awoke again. Roundulf never created another magical item for the rest of his life.
Ihimlucrist: A type of metal that instills within the viewer a desire to eat itself. Few adventurers have escaped from the metal alive. The few that have have missing limbs that tell the tale for them. If one can become immune to the effects of the metal will find that it really makes a nice sword and the effects it has on commoners (level 20 or not) is priceless.

So I just realized these threads existed so I'm going through one by one and answering them. Here are my thoughts on the magic items. Feedback welcome.
1. Thirst- The adventures have just cleared the temple from a group of Vampires. What was odd is that they were in a temple with a open roof and didn't burn. Nor did they have the powers normally given to a vampire. The adventures see a ornate sword on the tablet that marks the center of the temple. Its blade is a shining silver, its hilt made of pure gold, and at its base lies a single faceted ruby. Upon picking it up the adventures begin to get urges, urges to drink blood, they find that there is no other way to quench their thirst. What will they do now?(The item is cursed btw) The swords curse can be lifted but the players need to find its sister. An Iron Mace named Quench which is said to lie at the center of an arctic temple. The effects of thirst would be slow, but will they make it in time?
2. Bear Tooth- Legendary among thieves is the Bear Tooth that lies at the center of the forest of Dreams. It is said that he who holds it gains the strength of the bear from which it came. However it is guarded closely by the Dream Watchers, beings who utilize illusions and sleep magic to make sure no one who enters the wood ever makes it to the center. Your players need the tooth in order to accomplish their quest. How far will they go? The item gives its wearer the strength of a bear and allows them to use their hands as natural weapons as though they had claws.
3. Ihimlucrist- Long before humans roamed the earth there were dark races that roamed the earth. Giants as black as midnight and creatures darker then any of those residing in the under dark. But then hope came in the form of a lantern. No one knows how this lantern came to be but many guessed that it was a gift from the creator of the gods a being beyond description and the human minds understanding. The lantern shone through the darkness upon a dark giant and he began to change, he contirted until he stood as an ild man in white robes. This being was pelor and with this lantern he created the sun which brought light to the world. All of the creatures began to change and the giants and other creatures changed form. however, some escaped and still roam the earth watching and waiting for their time to strike. The lantern was passed on by Pelor to mankind and they used it for many years to protect themselves from the darkness. However, after a long number of years people forgot the lantern and it was lost. Now it lays waiting to be found at the bottom of the sea which was once the home of those men before the water rose. In the ruins it can be found. It is said that its powers dwindle but it still is strong. The holder of this lantern can cast the spell dancing lights once per day as well as daylight once per day. This light can not be canceled out by darkness.

I love the idea of the Thirst being related to vampires. I feel like a fool for not having thought about it before reading your description. It just seems to make so much sense now that I have read it, haha. Really well done and glad you found these and are taking advantage of them!

Haha, It was more of a case of me realzing everyone else had already done all of my initial ideas. So I though "if its not water thirst maybe it is blood thirst". Everything fell into place from there.

Here we go, first DM-Nastics. Thirst: a small necklace with a saphire in the shape of a tea-drop, found in the hands of a statue in the middle of a shrine. When thirst is put into the mouth of the wearer Thirst starts to leak clean water from the saphire, the more the wearer sucks the faster the water comes out of it. Thirst creates a few mouthfulls of water but this is enough to keep the user hydrated for 24 hours, and can be used once a day, the magic is refilled every morning with sunrise when Thirst will be covered in drops of morning dew. Bear Tooth: Bear Tooth is a punching dagger made from the two front canines of a Dire Bear, revered in druidic circles for it's connection it gives the wearer to bears (+2 to nature checks), and the curves of the teeth pointing in slightly different direction allowing for an extra painful attack when used (2d4 piercing damage). Ihimlucrist: A dagger of simple design, " By this blood, God will listen" is ingrained into the blade, and the end of the handle is made from gold in the pattern of a wreath. Given to a woman, called Lucretia, by Nerull, for she had been raped by the king's son but she knew she would never be able to get revenge without the aid of someone else, but she had no fortune to pay for him to be assassinated and she could not risk telling anyone about what had happened for fear of the repercussions on her. In the dark of night Lucretia prayed to any god who would hear her, she was desperate and she wanted him dead more than anything in the world, Nerull answered her prays on the condition that she give herself to him. After the death of the King's son the whole land was overturned in search of the killer and eventually information was discovered leading to the dagger, the corpse of Lucretia, and her suicide note calling the King's son out for his crime. The king ordered it to be locked in a chest and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. The dagger functions as a normal dagger, however if the wielder kills them self while asking for someone to be killed, Nerull will take the life of that person. Inspiration: Ihimarea and LucretiaAnd now to go back and read all the previous posts.

Inspiration: Ihimarea and Lucretia Wow, all the way back to the beginning! This has to be one of the coolest ideas (after rereading mine... certainly). And I love the lore you got it from. There are so many different campaign/one shot ideas that can be taken from this item. Especially when it comes to that note (perhaps the Monarchy will fall, like in Rome).

Here we go, first DM-Nastics. And now to go back and read all the previous posts. This is awesome! You have quite literally made my day. I let out an audible "Whaaaa!?" when I saw you started at the first one. I am super stoked to see the rest of your ideas!

Well I'm late to the party but here goes.
Thirst and Hunger- There is a legend of a once fertile land cursed by an angry water spirit after its inhabitants polluted it's pure waters with the blood of years of endless war. Now a forgotten temple to their God of War and bloodshed in the center of the valley is the only remaining sign of a once powerful nation. In the lower reaches of this desolate desert temple you find a huge underground cavern. In this cavern is a large lake. The air around you is thick with mist and the taste of magic. The mist collects into the form of a massive water elemental. Battle ensues and you are eventually victorious. At the back of the lake now fully visible you see a waterfall feeding into it. At the front of the lake is a small alter partially submerged. Protruding from the alter are 2 blades. Upon inspection they are found be of a magical nature. You remove the blades... From the holes where the blades once stood water begins to gush. (The DM pulls out an hour glass... ah hell...) the alter crumbles and water violently fills the cavern. Time to run. Your party makes it to safety above the valley. The temple is engulfed as the valley fills with water. Around the edges of the new lake grass and trees appear. Under your feet sprout a multitude of colorful flowers. Out of the lake rises a beautiful nymph, she nods and slowly returns to the water. It would seem the curse has been lifted.
Thirst and Hunger +2 blades, requires attunement and must be wielded together. The attuned must consume double food and water each day or suffer exhaustion.
Thirst- 1/long rest dip the blade into water to purify up to 5 gallons. 1 gallon is consumed by the blade.
Hunger- +1d4 necrotic damage to any living creature hit. Creatures must make a dc10 con save or take 1 point of con damage.
Bear Tooth- Deep in a forest in the high reaches of Moradin's Wall (a massive mountain range in my world) you happen upon a small cave entrance shape like the open mouth of a bear. Dark cave shaped like the maw of vicious bear? What could go wrong? Well unfortunately the cave is full of insane druids. Their leader a massive goliath puts up a hell of a fight but you manage to defeat him and claim his helm for your own. The head of a huge bear was use to fashion the menacing looking thing.
Bear Tooth- requires attunement. Cursed. Does not count as armor for barbarians. Once during each long rest the attuned is wracked with nighmares of twisted malformed bears and must make a dc10 wisdom save. Each failure adds 1 to the save throw DC. After a successful save the DC resets. If the attuned fails the dc15 save he becomes enraged attacking the nearest creature or object. 1/long rest invoke the spirit of the bear gaining +2 to strength for 1 minute. This adds +1 to the stacking wisdom save for the long rests.
Ilmascrust- I know nothing about under water stuff. I'll edit if I think of something. So just to the stats.
Giant fist sized pearl. Requires attunement. Grants water breathing, increased swim speed and the ability to fight under water as if on land. Must always be submerged in sea water or it crumbles.
OK that's it. I didn't mean to write a whole adventure on that 1st 1 it just kept coming. Man these DMNastics are awesome.

Thirst - A large earthenware jar filled with sand. Items placed into the jar are mummified within minutes. Sand removed from the jar can be used to dry things out. For example, feeding a spoonful of the sand to someone will cause them to die of dehydration within a day, no matter how much water they drink. Sand can be placed into the jar, and after 24 hours will have the magical drying properties described above. Sand removed from the jar is effective for 24 hours.
Bear Tooth - A stone axe with a head that is made from what looks like milky white glass. The axe head has runes etched into it, and has a knapped edge that is razor sharp. The axe is heavy, and with its sharp edge can easily cleave through almost anything. The edge never dulls, and filth runs off the head, leaving it a pristine white at all times. The axe handle has been replaced several times, and is not special in any way. The runes on the axe head glow when lycanthropes are nearby, and grants a +2 against them. If fighting werebears, the axe grants a second attack as a bonus action.
Ihimlucrist (cursed) - In a metal strongbox, at the bottom of the ocean, lay the Ihimlucrist. It is an octagonal prism mounted in a wire bracket. Looking through the prism shows you the truth about whatever you are looking at. Over time, the "truth" the prism shows you is slowly warped into more and more threatening visions. Eventually, users of the Ihimlucrist become dangerously paranoid, constantly using it and reacting to the false information it relays. A nobleman acquired it and used it to try and gain standing at court, but eventually wound up in chains, a string of victims left in his wake. Somehow, the Ihimlucrist always finds its way into positions of power. At least, it did, until someone realized its dark power and cast it into the sea.

I should have done this a long time ago, but time itself is a hard thing to come by (more on that later). Just caught up on the podcasts and so sad I can't listen to three or four new episodes at work every night anymore, but at least I have these DM Nastics to catch up on, so here goes #1. Don't know what I'll do when I'm caught up with these.
Thirst: This ancient spell book is found in the ruins of a desert temple. The temple, and all that was once within it, was buried through magical means by powerful wizards. They had hidden the spell book under lock and key within a hidden tunnel under the floor stones of the temple. The stones covering the entrance to the tunnel were marked with symbols of protection from evil hidden within a greater design. Hundreds of years later, the temple has been found and looted for all that it is worth, but stories are passed down that something in the temple calls to those who enter - a whispery voice demanding blood and sacrifice in exchange for unimaginable power. The book itself grants its user twice as many spell slots per day, but only holds spells that draw blood. For each spell cast that does not draw blood from its victim, the book will take the blood from the caster.
Bear Tooth: Legend holds that the wintry forests in the southernmost parts of the world are centers of an uncomprehensible magical force. Few ever enter the forests, as there is nothing of known value within; certainly nothing worth risking frostbite or an ancient tree falling on you, as they are want to do. However, once in a great while, the legends of a powerful magic intrigue a group enough to enter. Deep in the forests, within a vast network of icy caves, lay a single, sharp bear tooth. It is simple enough, perhaps good enough to be used as a simple dagger or the like, but when combined with The Staff of the great wizard, Belos, it has the power to encase any enemy in an unnaturally cold ice. This weapon and it's now dead owner and creator still permeate stories around the world of great battles and amazing adventures.
Ihimlucrist: Many doubt the truth to the power of the Ihimlucrist. Having heard of the deaths of so many before, it is a wonder that anyone tries to complete the trial; but I suppose the chance to change your past would drive any man, or woman for that matter, to that point. No one has ever succeeded in the trial, or at very least no one remembers anyone having ever succeeded, but then again no one would, if it didn't happen in this timeline. The Ihimlucrist is a trial of combat, intelligence, skill, and luck. It is run by the gods and the reward is the chance to turn back time, to try again. Once someone has completed the trial, they have only that one chance to get it right, for if they wish to enter the Ihimlucrist again, they find that it is closed to them.
