At the beginning of the new year, I'll be running a Star Wars campaign at my FLGS with a brand new group. Here's what I'm thinking of doing for the plot: It's been 5-6 years after the destruction of the Death Star and the death of Emperor Palpatine. The last of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker, gave his life to ensure that Darth Vader was unable to interfere with the mission to shut down the planetary shield generator. With the Empire fracturing into dozens of groups led by individual warlords, the PCs are rounded up by the forces of one such warlord. This warlord has been gathering anyone with even a hint of Force-Sensitivity for reasons unknown. That's what the PCs know at the start. The stuff that they don't know is that the warlord in question (most likely a Moff or Admiral) discovered a certain relic that has been whispering to them and driven them mad. The relic in question is a mask, one of six from the days of the Ancient Sith. The remnants of the Sith that wore it is pushing the warlord to find Force-Sensitives so that they may be reborn anew.

Although I do not play any Star Wars based RPG's, I love this concept. I do see that this could really be used in any RPG setting. I hope that there are those that can give you real feedback on this topic, but I think the start is great!!

sounds interesting. don't know much about starwars rpg's, but a few thoughtful questions. - are you hoping the group will lean towards embracing the darkness, or opposing it? either way it could be hard to get your whole group wanting the whole direction and would be interested in hearing how that works out. a Sith lord could be madly cruel and rely on stat checking people, while cunning is always more interesting but very hard to do while being fair to your pc's.
- how do you plan to manage dark vs. light scale? my brief foray into star wars rpg involved getting dark side points (something like that) for force lightning someone and my Jedi master got kind of upset when they sensed the darkness; do you plan to have the PC's use dark side powers, and if so how will that effect them? will they eventually risk madness if the continue on that path.
- brought this to mind from star wars: the clone wars. thought there were more similar scenes but couldn't find any. Dooku training Savage:
- is the mask overloading them with darkness, or is it sentient and possessing them. either way sounds good, but might play out differently.
not sure if any of this is helpful, but these are the questions i would be trying to work out if I were running something similar.

In answer to the above questions: Whether the PCs go Light or Dark I don't care one way or the other. The FFG system that I'll be using has an inbuilt scale called Morality (1-100, 29 or below is Dark Sider and 71+ is Light Side Paragon) The PCs aren't going to be the ones with the masks, the BBEGs of the campaign will. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
