Name- Aasimar Specters
Lineage- These mysterious individual are the descents of humans who were touched by the powers of gods. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, and the patron deity of these divine mortals was killed. When their progenitor dies, the Aasimar immediately experiences a tear in their divine energy, like a fire raging inside of them is suddenly extinguished. Only those willing to embrace the darkness that lies inside of every Aasimar are able to remain alive, though the cost is too much for most to bear. Those that survive their sudden change become Specters, torn between the remnants of a dead god and the shadows they’ve drawn upon to keep themselves alive.
Specter Aasimar have the same features that had in their previous form, with one crucial difference: any Specter’s irises immediately turn a dark, pure black, a scar from a process that kills entire communities.
Ability Score Increases- Your Dexterity Score increases by 1
Racial Features-
You replace your Healing Hands feature with the following:
Shadowed Healing:
- You learn the Spare the Dying cantrip. You may only cast it once per short rest.
You replace your Light Bearer feature with the following:
Reborn into Shadow-
-You gain Proficiency in Stealth and Deception
- If you are surrounded by total darkness (in the night, in a darkened corner, etc.) you make make stealth checks with advantage.
Blackened Soul-
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast Darkness as a second level spell. When you cast it, you can see through the darkness (you may only see through the darkness of your own spell). You may expand the the radius of the spell by 5 feet by taking five necrotic damage per five feet (you do not get to apply your resistance to necrotic damage). The radius of the Darkness cannot be increased to more than thirty feet in this way.
Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
When I designed this, I had the idea of a noble paladin who suddenly has to radically change their point of view on their entire philosophy, or maybe a villain who was once a hero but was corrupted by shadow and now seeks revenge in the entities that killed his progenitor. Anyways, this was a lot of fun to put together, and tell me what y’all think!
