So like many of us names are tough I need help coming up with a name for the island I have my campaign on I've been calling it "monster island" mostly because that's how it is introduced the the characters but they find out its more of a beast-folk island because its the main place I want to have a good name but can't come up with anything peaceful and cool sounding that the natives would have named it.

I love making allusions in my sessions. For example, my bards are always something like "Frederick Mercury," or "Stephen Knicks." When I hear "monster island" I think of Krakoa, a sentient moster-island from the second gen x-men.

You could always grab real-world names from little known places. How familiar is the average D&D player with the hundreds upon hundreds of islands in Indonesia, for example? Steal one! Your players will never know!

Along the same lines as Onesie Knight suggested, just pull a little known language with the flavor of sounds you want for the island, and plug some phrases into google translate until something jumps out at you.
try translating words like: monster, mouth, teeth, jaws etc
