I've had a lot of bad luck with dungeon and map designer. I have a lot of energy to make great content, but I've haven't found a an interface that has meshed being user friendly and good looking... The fact that I'm not artistic probably doesn't help.
I came across Dungeon Painter Studio (which is available through Steam - makes it user friendly). It's still under development, but definitely usable. It shows promise, and I like what I see so far. I wouldn't say I recommend it just yet, but it's not bad. I will play with it a bit more and then update.
Anyone else here use it?

I should consider getting a map software, since I spend a lot of time working by hand. I'll be watching for updates.

I've actually bought it a while back - works great I think, I'm just a crappy designer There are lots of community produced assets in the steam workshop tab that are free that you can download on top of the base program to give it a lot of versatility.
