Hey everyone,
I'm more or less a seasoned novice at D&D. With 5e I was intrigued by all the homebrew and I've created this subclass for the Barbarian, I'd love some input from more experienced players to see if it is balanced.
Path of the Blood Martyr
Those who walk the path of the Blood Martyr are willing to sacrifice themselves and lay their heads to the blade in the name of their deity. The Blood Martyr takes the natural physical strength of the barbarian and adds divine strength through offerings of flesh and blood.
Blood Oath
At 3rd level, you make a sacred vow to your god. Based on the alignment of your god you are granted strength in the form of either radiant damage or necrotic damage, also granting you resistance to the damage you are granted.
Sacrificial Rage
When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the ability to infuse your rages with divine power.
When you enter your rage you can sacrifice hit points of 1D4 (2D4 if dual wielding) to imbue your weapon(s) with an additional 1D4 radiant/necrotic damage when you strike an enemy, until your rage ends. The sacrifice and damage scale up to 1D6 at 6th level, 1D8 at 10th Level, and 1D10 at 14th level.
Blood Blockade
At 6th level, your deity is pleased by your devotion and has given you the blessing of protection. At this level, while you are raging, if you or an ally within 20 feet is attacked, you may use your reaction to target yourself or that ally and sacrifice 1D6 + constitution modifier of hit points to increase that target's AC equal to half of the number of hit points sacrificed for the duration of that one attack . At 10th level, the sacrifice die increases to 1D8 and at 14th level, the sacrifice die increases to 1D10.
Inspirational Offering
When you reach 10th level your willingness to sacrifice yourself has inspired your allies to fight as bravely as you. While raging whenever you land a successful blow you may take a bonus action to sacrifice 2D10 of hit points to inspire one ally within 30 feet of you (that can see you) to attack the same creature you attacked as a reaction. The attack is made with advantage, but any attacks made against that ally are made with advantage until your next turn. If the ally hits they deal bonus radiant/necrotic damage equal to half your level + your constitution modifier.
Rage Beyond Death
Beginning at 14th level, the divine power that fuels your rage allows you to shrug off fatal blows. While raging, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don't die until your rage ends, and you die then only if you still have 0 HP.
