What would one call a race of half-dwarves-half-orcs? Please not Dorcs or Orfs haha
My Pcs changed my world; now orcs and dwarves are steadfast allies and they think over generations or sooner they will inter-breed.
Brainstorming racial traits; Height; 4'2"-5'6" Age; 100-150 years Skin tone; ranging from earthy brown to mossy green. Eyes; colors of precious gems, sapphire, ruby, emerald.
Pick either dwarf CON or orc STR as +2 racial ability score bonus and the other is +1
Proficiency in dwarves weapons and armor eg) axes, maces
Darkvision
Battle Prowess; when an enemy attacker misses their attack on you as their target, you may use your reaction to make an attack roll to counter their attack. This ability cannot be used again until finishing a long rest.
Resilience; reduce incoming non-magical melee damage by 1 when wearing medium or heavy armor.
Any suggestions on balance, abilities or the race name?
I'm tempted to call them Tuskerr because I just picture orc tusks sticking out of dwarf beards
Edit: I'll use the Tolkein terminology of Khazruk or Uruk-khaz depending on which race is more prominent

I Finally outlined the racial specifics to the Urukhaz or KhazurukAbility Score Increase: +2 STR/+1 CON if identify with Orc 1/2 (Urukhaz) -OR- +1 STR/+2 CON if you identify with dwarf heritage (Khazuruk) Age: Dwarves being long-lived and orc's being short-lived, the mix of the 2 breeds are of average life-span with several living up to 120 years. Alignment: Most Urukhaz/Khazuruk of Lawful Alignment serve the dwarvish High King, while those of chaotic alignment serve in Thokk'gar's Legacy Horde. Size: Stand between 5'-5'6" on average and much bulkier/broader than a human, usually weighing 250-400 lbs. Your size is medium. Speed: Base walking speed of 30 ft Darkvision: Both orcs and dwarves see quite well in the dark so naturally their progeny can see just as well. You can see in dim light for 60 ft as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. Languages: You know Common, Orcish and Dwarvish Choose 1 race you identify with:A) Urukhaz; Stubbornness: When receiving damage of 10 or greater from a single source, you may reduce the source of the damage by 1/2. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest. Savage Combat Training: You have proficiency in battleaxes, mauls, light and medium armor B) Khazuruk;Dangerously Focused: You may add your proficiency modifier to Concentration checks and your passive perception. This trait does not stack, or add in addition to proficiency granted from another source. Defensive Training: You gain proficiency in hand axes, short-swords, shields and heavy armor Tool Proficiency: Choose 1 (Smith's tools, Mason's tools, Brewer's supplies or poisoner's kit)

It's been my interpretation that Half- races (half elves, half orcs etc) do not neccesarily have to have their other half as human. I just use the core race templates in the PHB and simply describe the half-race as flavor.
One of my more favorite NPCs was a half-orc half-gnome pirate/first-mate named Skuggs.

00dlez I had offered that RP aspect to my players. Of course Players always want DM's to do more work. So they wanted me to come up with something new for the race for them since they were the ones who after all, had stopped the dwarves and orcs from being hated enemies in my homebrew setting. Now that they are playing some Urukhaz in our new campaign, I just figured I'd share the Racial stats here

So is it implied somewhere that a half-orc is only half human and orc? or a half-dwarf is only dwarf and human? I would say that a half what-ever is just described in the appearance and description. For me and in my worlds, the other half of any race can be any other race. The only thing that I require from my players is a good back story with a reason why the are half- ?.

I'm not sure about earlier editions, but it is specifically stated in 5th that the half-orcs are orc/human and half-elves are elf/human in their parentage. This is also shown through the mechanical design choices made.
I agree with you that through back story and flavor that it could be any combo under the sun, but it seems like 5e has a heavier hand than you or I, haha.
