So I've been reading a book on symbolism, and its chapter on gemstones is a treasure trove of magic item ideas. Here's a couple I've stolen so far. Critique would be appreciated.
Fingerbone Ring Ring, uncommon (requires attunement) This simple hardwood ring is set with a long shard of coral that looks ominously like a skeletal finger. By pointing the ring as action, you may target one creature that can use spell slots. That creature must make a DC 14 Charisma saving throw or be frightened. The target may reroll their saving throw on the end of each of their turns. Once a target has successfully saved, they are immune to the ring's effects for the next twenty-four hours.
Talisman of Shadow Wondrous Item, uncommon This flint dagger, although blunt and useless as a weapon, is painted with unnerving sigils and circles. When an elf or a fey creature sees the Talisman of Shadow, it must make a DC 13 Charisma saving throw or be frightened. The target may reroll their saving throw on the end of each of their turns. Once a target has successfully saved, they are immune to the ring's effects for the next twenty-four hours. Although originating in some war between the Shadowfell and the Feywild centuries ago, this item is now sometimes used on the Material Plane as means of warding off fey threats.

I honestly have no critiques for the Fingerbone ring as that looks pretty darn good! For the Talisman of Shadow, do elves and Fey creatures have to repeat this save for each time they "see" the talisman after their initial save? Is there a 24-hour immunity to it like the Fingerbone Ring or other Fearful Presence abilities? I love the idea of using the Shadow to fight off the Fey threats, but out of curiosity and in the interest of Balance; Does the use of Shadow artifacts against Fey somehow give a portal or benefit to creatures from the Shadowfell? Eg) Hateful humans accumulates tons of Shadow relics to wage war against the elves without fail. He succeeds. But what are his consequences? Does he get to collect and use these Shadow Artifacts with impunity? I offer this example because I imagine that this is what my players would do.....

That may be the sort of thing for the GM to decide. Maybe prolonged use casts a desecrate spell on the area or attracts fiends or something. Anyone have any ideas?

Right! Time for the next one. This might be a bit of a weird one, and I'm not sure if it's too weird.
Boxer's Stone Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement) This small pink marble glows strongly. The magic of the stone only effects the user when it is held in the mouth. While held in this way, there is no obvious sign of the stone's presence. The user gets a +2 bonus to Strength checks and strength-based attack rolls when the stone is in effect. When the user is hit by a critical hit, they must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or accidentally swallow the stone, destroying it. The user is then poisoned until they are effected by a lesser restoration spell or similar.
