Har, I know many a dwarf could falsely respond to this add, but lads we're talking about the beautiful genre and sub-genre's of metal music, not the cold ores in the ground.
I just was wondering if anyone else here is passionate about heavier music and thought to start a discussion.
I tend to keep an ear open for anything new, but my classical fall-backs are:
Between the Buried and Me Animals as Leaders After the Burial Parkway Drive Periphery Born of Osiris Elitist Arsonists Get All the Girls All That Remains Nekrogoblikon
So let's go mining! What other awesome ores for the ears do you Blockheads listen to?

Big fan of metal as previously mentioned. Some I would say give a listen to: He Is Legend Protest The Hero Norma Jean August Burns Red Oh, Sleeper Gojira In This Moment
That should be enough to keep the conversation going.

Oooh a few new names in there for me!
Back in High School, Settle the Sky lured me into the genre with the song The Gunslinger. I got into August Burns Red soon afterward.
Some other heavy ones are:
The Faceless Circle of Contempt Enfold Darkness (great instrumentals but vocals are lacking even by metal standards) Glass Casket
I follow some youtube composers that make great fantasy and celtic music, but they also make some instrumental only Pagan and Viking metal stuff too. These youtube composers are:
Adrian Von Ziegler -and- BrunuhVille

Old School metalhead here!
Born in the 70s, raised in the 80s, and the classic speed/thrash genre were all my jams! Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, Exodus, Sepultura, Venom, etc.

@dm Exitium BtBaM was the first band I ever saw live! Love them.
Gojira, Red Fang, Electric Wizard, Meshuggah, and Sepultura are also way up there for me

My tastes have always run more along the traditional metal, NWOBHM, Power Metal and Symphonic Metal. I am also a big fan of 70s heavy rock such as Sabbath, Purple, Led Zep, andUriah Heap. I do like some folk metal and viking metal as well. Honestly, what I love about metal in general is how diverse the category is and I think every sub group has its share of decent bands and crappy bands.
