I really liked this show!
I played back in the early '80s, through the Dark Times. My family wasn't religious and my Mom loved horror stories and creativity, so she had no problem with D&D at all. In fact, I grew up in Round Lake, IL, not far from Lake Geneva, and she drove me up to The Dungeon to buy my first AD&D Players Handbook.
I did have friends who were affected, though. One of my best friends grew up in a Pentecostal family, and while his parents did give my friend permission to play, they didn't want the books in their house because of evil spirits that might ride in on them. He kept his books over at my house.
As far as intergenerational role-playing, my first AD&D games were played at the College of Lake County. Every Saturday, a wargame club met in the cafeteria. All kinds of games were played in addition to D&D. There were all sorts of adults there playing games. In fact, our D&D group included a math teacher from our high school. Then at our game shop, Pegasus Hobbies in RL, adults outnumbered kids for sure.
It was cool that Derek White is a pastor. We had a guy who started hanging out at The Pegasus on a regular basis, usually playing Squad Leader. After he had been hanging out for several weeks, making friends, and getting connected to the crowd, the store owner (Bill) asked, "By the way, Jim...what do you do for a living?"
Jim replied "Oh, I'm a pastor."
Bill said "No ****!"
Keep up the great work, guys!
